Almost one million young people aged 18-24 in the UK are not in education, employment or training. That's why we're proud to continue and expand our partnership with One Million Mentors in 2026. Since 2024, our colleagues have committed more than 500 hours of mentoring to support young people as they build confidence, develop employability skills and explore future career opportunities. The impact is clear: - Four mentees from the HS2 (High Speed Two) Ltd cohort have secured full-time employment - Four more have moved into part-time work or further progression opportunities - 78% of participating young people come from ethnically diverse backgrounds These aren't just statistics. Behind every number is a young person gaining confidence, finding direction and taking their next step forward. A huge thank you to our volunteer mentors for giving their time, sharing their experience and supporting young people to realise their potential.

This week we celebrated the structural completion of Burton Green Tunnel, a 700m-long green tunnel that will carry HS2 (High Speed Two) Ltd trains beneath the Warwickshire village. By taking the railway below-ground and restoring the landscape above, the tunnel will help maintain the Kenilworth Greenway, an important route for walkers, cyclists and horse riders, while maintaining ecological links across the area. Design work on Burton Green Tunnel began in 2019, with our Design Joint Venture with SYSTRA bringing together specialists from across engineering, architecture, landscape and environmental disciplines. Combining expertise from every angle, the team developed a design that balances complex technical requirements with the needs of the surrounding landscape and communities. A proud achievement for everyone involved.

Ravi Uppar has been at home on construction sites since he was a young boy, when he used to accompany his father to sites in Karnataka, India. Today he lives in the #UAE, where he is currently a senior resident engineer on a major redevelopment of the Mall of the Emirates, one of Dubai’s busiest shopping destinations. In this blog, Ravi shares his experience of overseeing day-to-day site activities, safeguarding clients’ operations, maintaining trust and keeping programmes moving without disruption. He says site work is “never boring”. “When you’re on-site you really appreciate the scale of the project and the speed of construction.
