A collection of 100 specimens, with 20 individuals per species, was gathered for the analysis. With ten ISSR primers, 135 amplified bands were detected, including 11 distinct species-specific bands, indicating high-level polymorphism among species. Using ten SCoT primers, 151 amplicons were generated, including 30 species-specific bands, with 52% polymorphic bands indicating high-level polymorphism among species. The degree of genetic similarity (GS) among the different genotypes of species was calculated based on ISSR bands analysis, which ranged from 93% between H. atra and H. impatiens to 86% between H. atra and A. crassa. The highest genetic similarity was observed between H. atra and H. impatiens (90%), while the lowest was identified between A. crassa and A. mauritiana (75%) using SCoT bands. Notably, the ISSR and SCoT-based DNA analysis revealed similar genetic relationships between H. atra and H. impatiens compared to other sea cucumber species studied. This study provides new insights into the genetic diversity and relationship among sea cucumber species in the Red Sea, which could have implications for their conservation and management.

The studies were carried out during the period of obtaining mature oocytes for fish breeding purposes. The reproductive function of female paddlefish was judged by the following parameters: body weight and timing of reaching sexual maturity, spawning intervals, egg yield, absolute and relative fecundity, percentage of fertilization and embryo development, and prelarvae yield. The physiological state of females was assessed according to the following parameters: white blood cell (WBC) count, hemoglobin concentration (Hb), total serum protein (TSP). The results obtained were compared with published data on female paddlefish in natural habitat and on females acclimatized in another region. Materials were obtained on paddlefish females, once and repeatedly ripened in the pond conditions of the Ast...

The hydrochemical and hydrobiological parameters in ponds during the cultivation were investigated. A comparative assessment of the growth rates of paddlefish and bester underyearlings during one and two cycles pond cultivation has been performed. The results obtained indicate that two cycles cultivation allows you to increase the weight of the paddlefish by more than 2 times, the bester - by 1.4 times, compared with one cycle.

Paddlefish, Polyodon spathula: Historical, current status and future aquaculture prospects in Russia

Paddlefish gain a growing commercial interest in the USSR/Russian Federation due to its ability to produce high-quality caviar. Also, it can be reared in polyculture ponds and a wide range of temperate reservoirs. Therefore, aquaculture of these valuable fish is necessary to meet consumer demand in Eastern European markets with flesh and caviar. Published information about the culture of paddlefish in the USSR/Russian Federation is scarce and not permanently available. Regarding our study, data were collected from English reports and translated Russian official statistics and studies. Also, FAO fisheries data from 1880 up to 2010 for paddlefish were included. Moreover, caviar production data and prices were surveyed from companies. The collected data could...
