A production Ford sets third-fastest time ever at the Nürburgring

Main issue is that you won't get over the first speed bump or even out of the driveway with that ride height. I guess you can also afford to pay for new bumpers and aero parts to every time you take it out on the streets...

Trump defunding of NPR and PBS blocked by judge, but damage is already done

One year of damage takes probably a generation to undo. If the republicans will ever let it happen at this point.

Polestar 3 production consolidated to the US to keep Volvo factory busy

Yeah... EVs are perfect for dailies... still mediocre at best on long trips though (at least here in the fast charging EV and fast charging chargers starved US), especially with children that's prone to need to go to the bathroom lol.

Water utility announces it’s ditching fluoride—then reveals it did so years ago

Someone here should learn to read and then buy a bottle of mouthwash and read what's on it.

After 16 years and $8 billion, the military’s new GPS software still doesn’t work

But think of the profits to the share holders!

2026’s historic snow drought is bad news for the West

This is gonna be disastrous in the summer here... The snow pack is so bad here in WA, the ski resorts never fully opened the entire winter and only opened in late December. There are areas in the north cascades where there's still suppose to be feet of snow, that are bare right now... Eastern...

Trump FCC prohibits import and sale of new Wi-Fi routers made outside US

There is not a single software defined product without "back doors" if that's the definition of being able to get around it.... Man... from my limited exposure to the "easy" set up consumer mesh routers, TP link (Chinese company that's US based for their US products) has far better software...

Self-propagating malware poisons open source software and wipes Iran-based machines

With the novel targeting vector of checking for Iranian time or if the machine is set up for the country, I can see zero issues of this being modified quickly and used to target other systems just like the derivatives of stuxnet...

AI is beginning to change the business of law

So.... we're just handing it off to AI to judge people now? Didn't we literally just have a movie called Mercy about this going wrong lol.

AI is beginning to change the business of law

The accountability comes after the justice system gets clogged by random hallucinated cases and the judges having to take twice the amount of time reviewing each case because lawyers will definitely review the AI output right? Just like the (from my rough memory) of half a dozen of articles...

Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra review: Private and performant

I doubt that when you take into account of how much of a zoom that is on the original picture... The zoomed in pictures are barely 1/100th of the original picture... at that point, individual pixels or the original does matter...

Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra review: Private and performant

It's actually pretty nice for landscapes and etc... This is on my S23 ultra that's 3 years old now, and there's additional compression from ars website down to 1000x720 pixels. Here's 3 pictures from roughly the same spot in Machu Picchu. I'll edit in which is which since ars preview doesn't...

Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra review: Private and performant

That's pretty much all tech products at this point? The higher end you go, the more small incremental improvements you get for the cost. But if you're using it for 3-5 years at a time, why compromise if you don't mind the extra couple hundred bucks, that's like $0.5 a day over that time period...

Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra review: Private and performant

I mean... I guess you're someone who doesn't use their phone multiple hours a day or care about taking pictures, playing games, or expect phones tp be that fast and responsive... and probably likes to haul around a dedicated camera... I have a galaxy A51 (their newish budget phone) as a back up...

Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra review: Private and performant

I mean... if I'm using the thing for hours a day for years on end at this point, it might as well as be a nice phone with very little compromise compared to a lot of the mid range phones half the price...

Satellite firm pauses imagery after revealing Iran’s attacks on US bases

You do realize that other countries friendly with Iran (namely China) has a pretty damn large satellite reconissance network right? Besides, with all the social media posts of the strikes that has hit even on military bases, it's kind of a moot point. Everyone knows, just that us media isn't...

Satellite firm pauses imagery after revealing Iran’s attacks on US bases

Iran started switching their munitions to China's encrypted beidou GPS system a few years back, so it's probably a combination of that and kinetic tracking along with the usual radar/laser targeting... Edit: Oh, apparently it's also got a camera up front too. So visual could be another...

Satellite firm pauses imagery after revealing Iran’s attacks on US bases

China should step up and start selling satellite images to publications 😂 Or publications can try to verify videos and images provided by Iran.

Climate change sucks, but at least it won’t kill your EV battery

I mean... "Small" EVs still exist... Hyundai Kona, Kia Niro, and the limited run Chevy Bolt are all under 175" long and got liquid cooled/heatpump heated/cooled batteries... I got a 2023 Hyundai Kona before the refresh and no issues for around town or day trips at all and also at 168" long so it...
