OpenAI brings plugins to Codex, closing some of the gap with Claude Code

I was impressed by Gemini 3 when it was released, but Claude Opus is mind blowing for coding and sysadmin tasks. Best bang for the buck right now is the Copilot subscription, billed per request, not per token. It's a steal right now.

Self-propagating malware poisons open source software and wipes Iran-based machines

It's not a cover, it's part of the war.

Judge upholds Apple delisting of free Musi app that streams songs from YouTube

Security mostly comes from the OS design, app containerization, hardware security features etc. which are independent from the store business model. The security level of the iPhone would actually make it the perfect device to allow people to use third-party apps. The main value of app...

Judge upholds Apple delisting of free Musi app that streams songs from YouTube

I understand the respect Apple gets for designing the best hardware, innovating etc. But I still don't get how people accept that a corporation controls what software they are allowed to run on their main computing device (and takes a cut on any money they spend). This is the reason why I...

Live Nation director boasted of gouging ticket buyers, “robbing them blind”

Times have changed. Today the corrupt MAGA class openly shows their disdain and contempt for workers without negative consequences.

Nvidia is reportedly planning its own open source OpenClaw competitor

During the consolidation phase, Nvidia will be in good position to buy them on the cheap, or to let them die while they reap the benefits.

Nvidia is reportedly planning its own open source OpenClaw competitor

If we accept that LLMs are there to stay, I would much prefer being in control of my agent and being in control of what it can connect to. The alternative is proprietary agents running in closed, proprietary ecosystems, only connecting to the services the agent owner allows.

AI can rewrite open source code—but can it rewrite the license, too?

Artificial neural networks are only inspired by neurons and synapses. They are not replicating or emulating them.

AI can rewrite open source code—but can it rewrite the license, too?

That's not the case. By default, you own copyright on your work. If the work is done while employed by a company doing any sort of software, your employer owns the copyright on the work and you can't license it without your employer permission. For instance, if you contributed to public domain...

AI can rewrite open source code—but can it rewrite the license, too?

The re-write would probably at least partially qualify for copyright. Parts not qualifying for copyright would be public domain, which would not make a huge difference since MIT is one of the most permissive licences. Also, the re-write would not automatically be considered a derivative work...

AI can rewrite open source code—but can it rewrite the license, too?

Is "clean room" more than a sort of legal insurance to easily prove no infringement in case of litigation ? My understanding (please correct me) is that not using a "clean room" setup would not automatically imply that the new work is a derived work as defined by copyright law.

Sixteen Claude AI agents working together created a new C compiler

Many comments are sort of missing an important point. The goal of this was to test the limits of Anthropic' latest model. Not to create a production-ready compiler. An undergrad writing a toy compiler is one thing. Writing a toy C compiler which can actually compile the Linux kernel and many...

Tesla slipped behind VW in European EV sales last year

The US is not a good place to invest in anymore because of political instability and widespread corruption. Look at the wind farms. Billions of investments in jeopardy despite having all the required permits and authorisations. Millions lost every day because some clown in power woke up in a...

How OpenAI is using GPT-5 Codex to improve the AI tool itself

Modern coding agents are incredibly powerful tools. They still need to be supervised, and can quickly become a burden if they are forced on developers in inappropriate ways. But 6 months ago they were barely capable of writing a Python script, which was already an amazing achievement by...

Mistral bets big on “vibe coding” with new autonomous software-engineering agent

For me, Gemini 3 Pro is the first model good enough to really use as a productive agent in larger projects. LLMs probably still have a significant margin of improvements for agentic use-cases before they reach the limits of what's possible with LLM architectures. I wonder if Google or Mistral...

A massive, Chinese-backed port could push the Amazon Rainforest over the edge

Yes they are. Check any source you want. Even without taking imports/exports in account, Chinese emit about half the eCO2 per capita of Americans. It should also be said that today China has a modern network of high speed electric trains. But even a diesel train is incredibly more efficient...

A massive, Chinese-backed port could push the Amazon Rainforest over the edge

Feeding the toxic American car culture is actually a much larger part of the problem than what this article reports about. And I don't see any mention of climate or environmental impacts in the car article. If you can't see the problem, that essentially shows Ars failed to educate readers about...

A massive, Chinese-backed port could push the Amazon Rainforest over the edge

No hypocrisy is involved? Currently just bellow this article about China building trade routes to export their EVs, focused on the terrible environmental consequences, there's an excited announcement for new gas-powered sport cars for the American market.

A massive, Chinese-backed port could push the Amazon Rainforest over the edge

Indeed. While this is an excellent piece of investigation, coming from liberal and environmentaly conscious americans, it's hard to not see a form of hypocrisy, as the US have been the major force actively blocking environmental regulations worldwide and is literally bullying countries to weaken...
