Resilience isn't built by one organisation alone — it's built with communities.   As part of our work with the NSW Reconstruction Authority and Central Coast Council on disaster adaptation planning, we've been working alongside local communities to better understand the risks they face and how we can strengthen resilience together.   Marg's story is a reminder that local knowledge matters. Supporting the energy transition isn't just about building infrastructure, it's about helping customers make informed decisions. As more Australians consider electric vehicles, access to trusted, practical information has never been more important. While charging infrastructure continues to grow, many people still have questions about what everyday EV ownership really looks like. That's why we've included real customer stories as part of our resources on our Good Energy website. In this case study, Leo shares his experience of being an Uber driver owning an electric vehicle—from charging and day-to-day driving to what surprised him most after making the switch. By sharing real experiences alongside, we're helping customers better understand their options and build confidence in the decisions that are right for them. We're 11 weeks away from bushfire season. Our teams have inspected more than 272,000 assets, with 18,000 pole inspections and assessments still underway. That's the scale of Ausgrid's bushfire prevention program, with our teams working year-round to identify and manage potential risks across the network. A key part of that work is LiDAR and drone technology, which captures highly detailed data on vegetation growing near powerlines. The insights help our teams identify risks earlier, prioritise maintenance more effectively and inspect the network more safely and efficiently. Since July 2025, 255 more EV chargers have been installed on power poles across the Ausgrid network, helping make electric vehicle charging more accessible for customers. As charging infrastructure continues to expand, one of the biggest barriers to EV adoption—range anxiety—is becoming less of a concern. However, many Australians are still looking for trusted, practical information to help them navigate the transition to electric vehicles. That's why we're continuing to invest not only in the infrastructure that supports electrification, but also in the resources that help customers make informed decisions. Australia is playing an increasingly important role in the global energy transition, and we're proud to see Ausgrid CEO Marc England featured in the Australian Deep Dive series of the Cleaning Up Podcast with Michael Liebreich. NAIDOC Week provides an important opportunity to recognise and celebrate the enduring cultures, histories and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, while taking the time to listen, learn and strengthen the relationships that help shape our future. In support of this years theme “50 Years Deadly”, our people came together across the network in a range of ways to deepen their understanding of culture and connect with the communities we serve. At our new Muswellbrook Depot, a Smoking Ceremony marked the beginning of a new chapter, acknowledging the significance of Country and paying respect to the local Traditional Custodians of the land. In Sydney, we were privileged to hear from proud Aboriginal educator and cultural advocate Jeremy Donovan, whose powerful storytelling challenged us to reflect on Australia's shared history and the importance of cultural understanding in our everyday lives. Our people also joined community based NAIDOC Family Fun Days in Tempe and Singleton, celebrating alongside local communities. While an On-Country walk with the Gujaga Foundation provided the opportunity to learn directly from Traditional Custodians and experience the deep connection between culture, history and Country. Each of these experiences looked different, but they shared a common purpose: creating meaningful opportunities to listen, learn and build stronger relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Not every worksite comes with a car park. Some require a boat. 🚤 Last week, Ausgrid crews carried out essential work at Milsons Passage, a unique part of our network that's only accessible by water. From navigating steep terrain and changing weather to transporting people, equipment and materials by barge, maintaining the electricity network in remote locations often requires a very different approach. No matter where our customers live, our crews are committed to maintaining and upgrading the network that keeps homes, businesses and communities connected. It's work that often happens behind the scenes, but it's an important reminder that keeping the power on sometimes means going wherever the network takes us.
