From catch to customer: How Pacific Packaging powers the seafood supply chain 🐟 🚛 ✈️ 🚢 Getting quality seafood from ocean to table is a race against time, temperature, and biology. The right packaging doesn't just transport — it protects, preserves, and maintains the cold chain integrity that seafood demands. Pacific Packaging Products, Inc. understands these challenges. Based in the USA and serving North America, they specialise in seafood and cold chain packaging solutions designed for the realities of the supply chain: stackable designs that maximise warehouse space, equipment compatibility that integrates with existing processing lines, and food safety compliance that meets the highest standards. But they're also looking ahead. Through their strategic partnership with Disruptive Packaging, they're replacing expanded polystyrene (EPS) with URTHCOR® — a sustainable alternative that doesn't sacrifice performance. As David Varsano, President of Pacific Packaging Products, Inc., shared: "This collaboration with Disruptive Packaging strengthens our ability to meet the evolving needs of the supply chain and gives our customers access to truly sustainable packaging alternatives." The 3️⃣ Cs: Collaboration, Customisation, and Commitment When customer demands shift or new challenges surface, the supply chain must adapt. Pacific Packaging and Disruptive Packaging respond with collaboration, customisation and a deep commitment to doing what's right for customers. ULD Efficiency: How Packaging Design Unlocks Annual Freight Savings...
You will have seen these metal 'cans' at airports from the window of the lounge or your plane being loaded just a few feet under your seat. Known as a ULD (unit load device), they come in all shapes/sizes and are a critical piece in how we consume food around the world. Airlines sell ULD spaces to exporters to load their perishable cargo like seafood, meat, produce, and even vaccines. So what role does packaging have to play here? Well, on a trial in NZ this week, a fish exporter had a consignment of 450ctns to pack for customers in Sydney. Here's where it gets interesting - when packed in EPS (foam) boxes, these 450ctns were loaded into 6 ULD's. When packed in the equivalent sized URTHCOR box, only 4 ULD's were required thanks to its smaller footprint and greater load efficiency. Lets look at the math to see what this actually means... - Avg ULD space cost on this route = $5000 - ULD's saved per consignment = 2 - Total savings per consignment = $10,000 - No. of consignments per week / month / year = 2 / 8 / 104 - Total savings per week / month / year = $20,000 / $80,000 / $1,040,000 So...over $1m saved per annum by simply changing the material of the box! Disruptive solutions ≠ Difficult solutions Disruptive solutions = Profitable solutions Disruptive Packaging

Pallet Puzzle Solved: Column or Cross? One key decision in pallet packing is how to stack the boxes. Common methods are column stacking and cross-stacking, or a hybrid of both. 📦 🟪 Column stacking means placing boxes directly on top of each other in straight columns. This method creates a strong, stable structure that evenly distributes weight. 🟪 Cross-stacking involves alternating the direction of boxes in each layer, which can increase airflow but may reduce stability. 🟪 Hybrid stacking is a combination of both column and cross-stacking. This can mean the top layers differ from the bottom layers, or the outer boxes are column stacked while the inner boxes are cross-stacked. We recommend column stacking your URTHCOR and URTHCOOL boxes over regular cross-stacking for most situations, especially when pallets face environmental stress. Column stacking minimises crush at the bottom of the pallet. Cross-stacking can be useful when the products require careful securing to prevent instability. #URTHCOR #URTHCOOL #MythsDisrupted #SustainablePackaging #SeafoodPackaging #ProducePackaging

Day 2 at Hort Connections! Great learnings from the people driving Australia's horticulture industry forward—and Australia's Ash Barty and leadership mentor Ben Crowe gave insight into her World No. 1 tennis career and separating the persona from the person. "We are human beings first, and human doings second." 🎾 Growers are prioritising reducing waste, improving efficiencies, and meeting customer expectations. One key takeaway from our discussions: Today's packaging decisions need to balance performance, efficiency, and sustainability. 🍇 🌽 🥬 If you are at the Expo, come and say hello—we'd love to talk boxes, innovation, and the future of fresh produce. #HortConnections #HortConn26 #HC26 #Horticulture #AUSVEG #InternationalFreshProduceAssociation #IFPA #FreshProduce #Producers #Growers #AustralianProduce #SustainablePackaging #InnovativePackaging #Innovation Jason Cairns-Lawrence Rod Knight
