APPLICATION LINK: https://lnkd.in/gJ-dh8H7 ABOUT Melbourne Space Program is a student-led non-for-profit organisation aiming to develop future technology leaders. We select high-potential tertiary students across engineering, business and law, and provide them with challenging space and technology projects. These projects typically require complex problem-solving, the application of technical skills and the development of soft-skills as they operate in a professional, best-practice environment with support from academic mentors and industry professionals. PROJECT TEAMS ACRUX-2 Mission 🛰 ACRUX-2, the second mission in the ACRUX Program, aims to become the first Australian student team to capture a photo from low Earth orbit. The team will accomplish this through the hands-on development of the ACRUX-2 satellite, a 3U CubeSat, and the ACRUX ground station, which is capable of sending and receiving UHF signals. Humanoid Robot 🤖 Our Humanoid Robot blends advanced robotics with space related services, currently focusing on creating an interactive robot that builds on the ability to take on space controls. The project's underlying goal is to impart essential robotics skills to our students – skills that also hold significant relevance in space applications. Animatronics 🦖 The Animatronics Project is dedicated to social impact, aiming to craft animatronic robotic characters for children in hospitals. A look inside MSP Animatronics and the work that drives the project. From regular working sessions, to Teddy Bear Hospital, to the Annual Showcase, Animatronics brings together students who are committed to applying their technical skills in a way that is thoughtful, disciplined, and genuinely community-focused. At its core, the project is about using engineering to create meaningful experiences for children and contribute something positive beyond a project team.

Melbourne Space Program Marketing plays an important role in how the organisation presents itself to industry, students, sponsors, and the wider community. Behind every post, event recap, recruitment campaign, and piece of branding is a team that works with a high level of professionalism, consistency, and attention to detail. It is a space for people who want to think carefully about communication, take pride in quality, and help shape how a serious student organisation is seen externally. Earlier this month, Melbourne Space Program attended the Victorian Government Space Industry Breakfast at Investment Centre Victoria. The event came at a time of continued activity across the sector, with Artemis II having recently marked Australia’s role in the Artemis program and the 12 May Federal Budget continuing the broader Future Made in Australia agenda. In Victoria, that wider context also includes recent momentum such as Lunar Outpost Oceania expanding its Melbourne headquarters. Thank you to the organisers, including The Write Space, and to the teams involved in the event program and displays, including Roo-ver, Australia’s lunar rover.

A special moment for Melbourne Space Program to be featured in Katherine Bennell-Pegg’s visit to RMIT as part of her Melbourne tour. Her keynote on students being the future of space in Australia really resonated with what Melbourne Space Program is all about: giving students the opportunity to build real capability through ambitious, hands-on projects that contribute to the future of the sector. In that spirit, we were also glad to give a spot to ARES, whose focus on aerospace and representing the University of Melbourne aligned strongly with the themes of the event. It was great to see student space communities come together around a shared vision for Australia’s future in space.

It was great to have Melbourne Space Program invited to and included in Space Bar. MSP has had a long-standing connection with Space Bar and The Write Space, and it is always nice to see that community continue to grow. We are grateful to be part of a space that brings together students, alumni, and professionals from across the Australian space sector.

Excited to share MSP’s recent collaboration with Saturday Normal Library, a Korean study group building a strong community of students and young professionals in Melbourne. As a program that closely works with Koreans through our broader community and partnerships, it was great to connect with a group that brings together study, networking, and ambition in such a meaningful way. We’re looking forward to more opportunities to support one another and build stronger ties between our communities.

Melbourne Space Program was pleased to attend the MSA Industry Night as an industry invite. It was a great opportunity to connect with students, industry representatives, and organisations across the engineering and aerospace space, and to share more about MSP’s work and community.
