For BASF, optimizing scheduling in one of its liquid-filling facilities is an operational challenge involving thousands of variables, competing constraints, and numerous possible decisions. BASF Innovation Manager Ionel Rusu compared it to a game of chess: every move creates a myriad of new possibilities, most of them infeasible. At Qubits Europe, Ionel shared how BASF used D-Wave's Stride™ hybrid solver to evaluate the optimization of its complex bottle-filling process. The results: ➡️ Answers in seconds instead of up to 10 hours ➡️ 14% reduction in late jobs ➡️ 18% faster tank turnaround As Ionel said: "This is not an academic exercise. It is a quantum application solving a real problem with real data, significantly better and unbelievably faster than the classical paradigm." 🎥️ Watch the full session: https://lnkd.in/g5SGnB4c #DWave #QuantumComputing #QuantumRealized

Today, D-Wave and AT&T announced that AT&T has signed an agreement to expand its use of D-Wave's quantum computing technology and plans to use the technology to address complex optimization challenges across its network operations. In an early application, AT&T used D-Wave's technology to reduce the processing time for a network optimization workload from approximately one hour to less than 15 seconds. Building on this initial work, AT&T plans to explore using D-Wave’s quantum computing technology across a broader set of applications, such as outage detection and response, technician routing, network build planning, and traffic management. AT&T is also evaluating D-Wave's forthcoming gate-model systems for potential applications in quantum security and quantum communications. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gYCrDcNF

Did you know? One of the biggest challenges in building fault-tolerant gate-model quantum computers isn't just reducing errors. It's knowing when and where they occur. That's why error awareness is emerging as one of the most important capabilities for scalable quantum computing. By harnessing the power of error detection, users get new data for achieving fault tolerance and exploring advanced use cases. Here's why it matters: 🔹 Dominant errors are flagged as they occur during a calculation at the hardware level, rather than waiting until computations are complete to discover something went wrong. 🔹 Real-time error detection can significantly reduce the hardware and computational resources required for quantum error correction, making fault tolerance more practical to achieve. 🔹 As quantum processors scale, architectures that combine high-fidelity operations with efficient error correction are expected to have a significant advantage in delivering reliable computation. 🔹 We believe giving developers access to error-aware programming tools today helps them begin developing the software, algorithms, and workflows that will power tomorrow's fault-tolerant quantum computers. To help developers prepare for this future, D-Wave recently announced its forthcoming gate-model simulator, the world's first simulator for error-aware programming. The simulator will give developers new tools and data to better understand quantum behavior, prototype quantum applications and error-correction routines, and explore advanced workflows.
