The Artificial Intelligence in Medicine (AIME) Conference came to Canada this year before returning to Europe in 2027. For more than 20 years, this international community has been advancing research and critical thinking on the application of artificial intelligence in medicine. EqHS was honoured to be one of six pre-conference tutorials selected to help launch AIME 2026. Thank you to Lyn K. Sonnenberg and Jerry Maniate for leading the conversation with 25 participants representing eight countries during our sold-out tutorial. Together, we explored what it takes to move responsible AI from principles into everyday healthcare practice. The discussions reinforced a theme we continue to see across organizations and countries: implementing AI is no longer primarily a technical challenge. It is a trust challenge. Using the Health CARE-AI Framework alongside the newly released CARE-AI Implementation Guide and Toolkit, participants explored practical approaches to governance, trust, equity, evaluation, and implementation. The guide and toolkit are freely available at eqhs.ca/CARE-AI. One of the highlights of the session was the depth of discussion and the willingness of participants to openly share both successes and implementation challenges from their own organizations. A special thank you to Shifra Samber, whose recommendation to include a communications lead on the First 90 Days Steering Committee has now been incorporated into the Implementation Guide. We also appreciated the strong participation from the AI team at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute. Thank you to everyone who contributed to such a thoughtful and engaging discussion. The conversations at AIME reaffirmed that advancing responsible AI is not simply about developing better technology. It is about building trust, strengthening governance, and supporting implementation that improves care for everyone. Missed the tutorial but still want to engage? Please reach out to us. We'd welcome the opportunity to start the conversation. #AIME2026 #ArtificialIntelligence #ResponsibleAI #HealthcareAI #Trust #ImplementationScience #HealthCAREAI Lyn K. Sonnenberg and Jerry Maniate

Trust is built when health systems are willing to examine difficult questions, not avoid them. At EqHS, we are a network of networks. More than 100 researchers, clinicians, health system leaders, patient partners, trainees, and community members working together across Canada and internationally. We believe trust grows when difficult issues are examined openly, rigorously, and collaboratively. This new publication by Dr. Jamiu O. Busari is an example of that commitment. Most people think influence is about being louder, smarter, or having the perfect elevator pitch. It’s not. Real influence is built through trust, credibility, relationships, and consistency over time — especially in healthcare, research, leadership, and education. That’s why The Influence Equation has been sitting on my desk lately. It’s one of those books that quietly changes how you think about communication, leadership, and connection. People don’t just buy into ideas. They buy into people they trust. If you’re working in leadership, academia, healthcare, innovation, or honestly any role where relationships matter, this is worth the read. Worth adding to your summer reading list. Excited to partner with Digital Medicine Society (DiMe) to help advance practical #AI governance in healthcare. Strong governance is essential to ensuring AI is implemented responsibly, transparently, and equitably across health systems. This work aligns closely with our CARE-AI initiatives, and we look forward to collaborating to turn governance principles into real-world practice. 👏We're proud to welcome Equity in Health Systems to Operationalizing AI Governance in Healthcare, our new multi-stakeholder initiative building the first open-source toolkit for operationalizing AI governance across healthcare. Right now, 82% of more than 230 health systems surveyed have no or limited governance processes in place for AI. The frameworks that do exist are often abstract, leaving leaders without actionable guidance on risk mitigation, performance monitoring, or sustainable integration. Leaders from across the ecosystem are co-creating the templates, scorecards, dashboards, and workflows that bring accountability and transparency to AI deployment in real-world care. Thank you, Equity in Health Systems Lab, for helping build the governance infrastructure that enables AI to deliver on its promise to healthcare. 👉Learn more and join the effort: https://lnkd.in/gE3p9PCx cc: Jerry Maniate, Priyanka Naga
