Today we announced an expansion of our Fair Trade AI program, the opt-in data licensing program built to ensure independent artists are active participants in the AI era, not bystanders to it. With more than 30,000 artists already participating, Fair Trade AI gives musicians a stake in the AI economy. The expansion introduces an initial $1 million advance program for participating artists, in addition to raising the recurring revenue share from 20% to 25%, based on each artist’s contribution to the dataset. As AI companies race to build increasingly sophisticated audio models, access to licensed, rights-cleared music has emerged as one of the industry’s biggest challenges. Unlike web-scraped datasets that have fueled growing legal and ethical debates around generative AI, Fair Trade AI is built on three principles: consent, transparency, and participation. Fair Trade AI licenses opted-in catalogs to AI companies developing next-generation audio technologies, including creative tools, voice technologies, and other music AI applications. As demand for licensed training data continues to grow, we believe transparent licensing models will become an increasingly important part of the music industry’s future. Participation in this initial round of advances closes July 20. Learn more here: http://landr.com/fairai

LANDR x Berklee AIMS: AI Music Summit 2026 When AI can generate an infinite number of musical variations in seconds, the technical barrier to entry drops to zero. That shifts the true value of a modern creator away from pure technical execution and toward something much harder to automate: curation, direction and artistic taste. If you are teaching the next generation of music creators, what do you actually focus on in the classroom? Join us for our session: "Frameworks to Teach and Talk about AI in the Classroom". Daniel Rowland, LANDR VP of Strategy & Partnerships, will be diving directly into this framework at the Berklee AIMS AI Music summit this week during the "AI and Pedagogy" session. The extended session features an opening conversation followed by four distinct, forward-looking presentations: "Can you teach taste?" - Daniel Rowland (LANDR) "Practical Tools for Framing AI Discourse" - Charles Holbrow (Creative Music Technologist at Berklee College of Music/MIT) "AI in Music for Artists, Educators, and Creative Professionals" - Carlos Arana, PhD. (Instructor, Author - Berkleemusic Online) "From AI Platforms to Cybernetic Improvisors" - Steven Lewis (Musician) Session led by: Merrily James (Associate Dean and Program Director for Songwriting and Production at BerkleeNYC) They will be breaking down what curriculum design looks like when AI tools are fully integrated, and how educators can move past polarized debates to teach genuine artistic identity. 📅 June 4 🕒 3:40 PM – 6:00 PM 📍 Room 316, 132 Ipswich St Are you an educator or creator navigating this shift? Save a seat for the session to join the conversation live. Add this session to your AIMS schedule: https://lnkd.in/eysH_Znb
