For children born with a cleft lip or palate, the cost of treatment can be a significant burden for families. In response, the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador is increasing lifetime coverage under its Cleft Lip and Palate Program to $33,280, while also raising the maximum funding available per stage of treatment, covering initial assessment fees, and introducing retroactive reimbursements for eligible families. The changes are designed to better reflect the true cost of care and improve access to medically necessary treatment.
