Strategic Spotlight: Canada–UK Collaboration Targets Malignant Melanoma Through Next-Generation Immunotherapies At Towards Healthcare, we continuously monitor and highlight research-driven partnerships that redefine the future of precision medicine. One such advancement is the recently announced collaboration among: → Genvira Biosciences. (Canada) → LABSKIN LIMITED (UK) → National Research Council Canada / Conseil national de recherches Canada This international consortium is launching a €1.2 million (USD 2 million) initiative focused on developing targeted immunotherapies for malignant melanoma a disease responsible for over 330,000 new cases and approximately 60,000 deaths annually. Key Objectives and Scope of the Collaboration: ✔ Next-generation cancer vaccines: The project is set to develop novel antigen-driven delivery systems and immunotherapies targeting melanoma. ✔ Advanced disease modeling: LabSkin will leverage its expertise in 3D in vitro human skin models to create sophisticated melanoma models for preclinical testing. ✔ Gene and viral vector innovation: Genvira brings its proprietary gene delivery and viral vector platforms to accelerate the therapeutic pipeline. ✔ mRNA technology integration: NRC will lead the engineering of mRNA-based immunotherapies to enhance precision and efficacy. Funding and Support: → In the UK, the initiative is supported by Innovate UK, part of UK Research and Innovation (UKRI). → In Canada, funding comes via NRC’s Collaborative Science and Technology Innovation Program (CSTIP) and Industrial Research Assistance Program (IRAP).
