Brian Selby \u2013 Board Chair <\/strong><\/span>(Board Member Since: 2015, Current Term: 2024-2026<\/strong><\/span>)<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n

\"BrianBrian Selby is the owner of Selby Energy, Inc. He has over 30 years\u2019 experience as an energy consultant and residential building designer and has been a HERS rater for 15 years. He is a Certified Energy Analyst for both residential and nonresidential Standards. For the past three years he\u2019s worked closely with CABEC and other stakeholders developing and implementing the CEA Exam program and also teaches energy code to consultants, plans examiners and building inspectors through the Energy Code Ace Title 24 Essentials classes. He is very passionate and committed to helping this industry learn and adapt to the ever changing requirements of the energy code.<\/p>\n

Russ King \u2013 Board Vice-Chair (Board Member <\/strong><\/span>Since: 2013, Current Term: 2025-2027<\/strong><\/span>)<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

\"\"<\/a>Russell King, M.E. is a professional Mechanical Engineer licensed in California, Nevada, and Hawaii.\u00a0 He is the CEO and Founder of Coded Energy, Inc., developers of Kwik Model 3D HVAC design and energy modeling software.\u00a0 He has over 35 years of experience in the areas of HVAC design, diagnostics and consulting, as well as energy code compliance, Home Energy Rating System (HERS) verification and consulting.\u00a0 He is a nationally recognized instructor on all of these topics.\u00a0 He is the author of \u201cHVAC 1.0 \u2013 Introduction to Residential HVAC Systems\u201d.\u00a0 He was one of the first Certified Energy Plans Examiners (CEPEs) and Associate Energy Analyst (AEA) in the state and is on the CEA, Training and Education and the Complaint Committees.<\/p>\n

\"\"Rosemary Howley lives and works in Northern California. She has an impressive educational background, including a Master\u2019s degree in Architecture from UCLA with a specialization in architectural energy efficiency. In addition, she has a wealth of experience related to the California\u2019s Energy Standards, having worked in this field since 1986. She has been a CABEC member since its inception; her contributions include being the editor of the CABEC Newsletter for over 15 years (1986-2002). Her expertise and commitment to helping CABEC in its roles of educating energy consultants and participating in the California Energy Standards processes will help the organization continue to provide excellent value to its members.<\/p>\n

Nick Brown \u2013 Board Member\u00a0<\/strong>(Since: 2018, Current Term: <\/span><\/strong>2024-2026<\/strong><\/span>)<\/h4>\n

\"\"As President of BuildSmart, Inc., Nick is responsible for energy modeling and sales.\u00a0 He brings 14+ years experience in the building industry, including stints running manufacturing companies making drywall and stucco products.\u00a0 He has managed key home-builder relationships and learned from a materials standpoint how homes are built with energy- and cost-efficiency as the goals.<\/p>\n

He holds a BA in Economics from Princeton University and an MBA from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan. Nick also completed a Green Building Certificate Program at California State University at Long Beach. CABEC Residential CEA and Nonresidential CEA.<\/p>\n

\"Dave<\/a>Dave Intner, with Southern California Edison\u2019s Codes & Standards team, is a Licensed Architect, LEED AP and Certified Energy Manager.\u00a0 A graduate of Cal Poly SLO, Dave provides education and outreach supporting Building Decarbonization and Energy Code Compliance Improvement, including local delivery of the Energy Code Ace program. Dave has 30 years of professional experience split between architectural practice and utility program delivery. His work includes resource and training development, case study research, reach code support for jurisdictions, and design tools for the building industry.<\/div>\n

Dave serves on the statewide AIA Climate Action Committee. He is a Past President of the AIA Ventura County, a four-year member of the LEED Energy and Atmosphere Technical Advisory Group (EA-TAG), and he has served on the board of directors of USGBC Los Angeles.<\/div>\n

Dave lives in Ojai and spends his free time juggling a diverse set of hobbies, which include strategy board games, 3D printing, improv comedy, running, and frisbee sports such as disc golf and Ultimate.<\/div>\n

Tim Kohut \u2013 Board Member (<\/span><\/strong>Since: 2025, Current Term: <\/strong><\/span>2025-2027)<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n

\"Tim<\/a>As Director of Sustainable Design for National Community Renaissance<\/a> (NCORE), Tim Kohut combines his skills as an architect and Certified Energy Analyst to help define cost-contained, high-performance goals for project teams engaged in the design and construction of affordable housing. NCORE routinely pushes the boundaries of code compliance, building Zero Net Energy Projects having figured out that the economics of sustainability carry the day. NCORE is the first DeveloperBuilder to sign the AIA-2030 Commitment.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

Working with National CORE’s construction team to identify strategies and approaches for fully integrating energy efficiency, sustainability, and high performance goals into company standardized means, methods, and programming documents. Refining approaches for cost estimating and cost containment. Working with construction management team to manage design teams and to measure long-term project performance. <\/span><\/p>\n

Luke Morton \u2013 Board Member (Since: 2017, <\/span><\/strong>Current Term: 2026-2028<\/strong><\/span>)<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n

\"\"Luke is the Sustainability Manager at FGY Architects and Pete Moffat Construction. After he took a couple of classes in energy efficiency in college, Luke began his career in the energy world when a non-profit in Atlanta hired him to drive a 1986 Acura around the exurbs of Atlanta to do HERS and green building verifications . That led him through an odyssey of various roles at Rocky Mountain Institute and US Green Building Council, studying various aspects of the built environment. Currently, he is working as a green building and efficiency consultant for high-performance homes in the Bay Area. Beyond Title 24, Luke’s recent work has included Passive House modeling, off-grid and microgrid systems, Life Cycle Assessments of building materials, and plenty of Net Zero energy projects. In his spare time, he scrolls the various Title24 listservs to find opportunities to wisecrack, and occasionally attempt insight.<\/p>\n

Bona fides: CEA (Residential), LEED AP, Certified Passive House Consultant, GreenPoint Rater. He has a Bachelors and Masters from Stanford in Earth Systems and the Atmosphere\/Energy program, respectively.<\/p>\n

\"\"Ritesh has over 10 years of experience in the energy efficiency and sustainability fields specializing in new construction single family, new construction multifamily and existing multifamily. As a Technical Manager, he supports PG&E\u2019s California Advanced Homes Program (CAHP), PG&E\u2019s California Multifamily New Home (CMFNH) program as well as PG&E\u2019s Multifamily Upgrade Program (MUP). Ritesh has managed the design of an all-electric residential new construction program for both single- and multi-family, new-construction for SCE for 2020.<\/p>\n

Currently the Owner of Gabel Energy out of Castro Valley, California, and has been in the energy modeling field since 1991. She is an energy analyst performing a wide range of responsibilities in both residential and nonresidential construction pertaining to compliance standards and energy modeling within the United States, while specializing in California Building Code. California local ordinances (or Reach codes) supporting electrification and electric preferred for multifamily, hotel\/motel and nonresidential buildings dictate much of the work Gabel Energy provides in Northern California in recent years.<\/p>\n

Gina has worked with Energy Code Ace as a subject matter expert developing and supporting trainings, resources and tools on the Residential and Nonresidential Title 24 Building Energy Efficiency Standards for building department staff, energy consultants, engineers, contractors and architects. Gina also works as a respected subject matter expert informing the statewide code development process since the 2013 Building Code cycle.<\/p>\n
