You might be familiar with our standard solutions, but we also offer hardware customization tailored for your specific needs. For instance, following the recent request of a customer, the standard MMC testbench was slightly modified to support full-bridge operation, and custom rear panels were added for easy re-wiring of the submodules. With these small modifications, they can now easily switch between standard AC-DC MMCs, direct AC-AC MMCs, and all kinds of cascaded H-bridge topologies using a single modular setup. Watch the video to see the setup for real here: https://lnkd.in/eibDmK_5 and find more information on our standard test bench here: https://lnkd.in/eYNpKvbj. With the addition of a few medium-frequency transformers, the same equipment could also be re-used for building a complete Solid-State Transformer (SST) prototype. A similar realization was previously documented in https://lnkd.in/eQUdK4Vr. Interested in knowing more about the customization possibilities? Did you know that the B-Box 4 is capable of running closed-loop controls up to a rate of 500 kHz? That’s a 50 to 80% performance increase over the B-Box 3. This makes high control loop rates and complex algorithms accessible with the simplicity of CPU programming. We reached this level of performance by exploiting the low-latency potential of Systems on Chips (CPUs and FPGAs on the same chip), leveraging the quad-core 1.5 GHz CPU, and rigorously optimizing our code. Learn more about the B-box 4 here: https://lnkd.in/epGyPsz3 #Imperix #BBox4 #PowerElectronics #ControlPrototyping

Did you know that all Imperix controllers come with a user-programmable FPGA? In fact, this feature grants users direct access to most of the hardware's logic resources. This enables even higher closed-loop control rates than what is possible with the CPU, or allows for the implementation of custom drivers for additional I/O peripherals. Various development approaches are possible, suitable for different user profiles: - High-level synthesis (HLS) techniques are supported, including AMD Vitis HLS, MATLAB HDL Coder, and AMD System Generator. - Traditional VHDL/Verilog development is also always possible. Getting-started information is available at https://lnkd.in/dbvBfGdX. The page also provides links to application examples, such as: - FPGA-based control of a grid-tied inverter - Integration with third-party HIL simulators over Aurora - Data collection for delta-sigma ADC circuits What’s more, this feature comes at no extra charge. With the B-Box 4, these benefits are even fully maximized since the controller integrates the largest available FPGA that can be programmed with a free Vivado license!

Through his research, Dr. Khaliqur Rahman from the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) recently explored real-time Grid-forming inverter (GFMI) control by pairing our B-Box controller with a Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) simulator, and he recorded the entire process. As a contribution to the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) forum, Dr. Rahman put together a video walkthrough detailing how he: - Implemented droop-controlled GFMI control in the B-Box. - Interfaced the controller with the plant in the Typhoon #HIL simulator. - Successfully operated and validated the inverter in grid-connected and islanded mode. If you are an engineer or researcher working on renewable integration, microgrids, or rapid control prototyping, this video highlights how #imperix solutions facilitate advanced microgrid research.
