H2BE and INEOS announce that they have agreed preliminary commercial terms for the offtake of low carbon hydrogen from H2BE, with an aim of supporting INEOS' Project ONE's ambition to become the first zero carbon steam cracker in Europe.   With the Fluxys hydrogen pipeline from Ghent to Antwerp largely constructed, this agreement provides commercial foundations for hydrogen produced by ENGIE and Equinor for use by INEOS.   As an anchor agreement, this will support the development of a broader low‑carbon ecosystem in Belgium and has received backing from the Flemish government and the EU. The H2BE project will contribute to the decarbonisation of Project ONE and may enable further investments across the value chain, including potential developments in hydrogen production and infrastructure. Europe cannot build a circular plastics economy if the industry that underpins it is no longer competitive. The slowdown highlighted by Plastics Europe in today's report is a clear warning. Europe needs affordable energy, a pragmatic regulatory framework and protection against unfair imports if it is to scale recycling, attract investment and maintain strategic autonomy. Without a strong and competitive manufacturing base, the transition to a circular economy will simply move elsewhere.
