Behind every smooth sailing is a highly skilled team working around the clock to stay one step ahead of the weather, support safe operations and improve fleet efficiency. At MSC Cruises, our dedicated meteorology team monitors and predicts conditions in more than 1,000 locations worldwide every day. Led by Paul Mitchell, Chief Meteorologist at MSC Cruises, and supported by our Maritime Support Centre in London, the team draws on: • Live meteorological and oceanographic data • Predictive modelling and AI-enabled analytics • Extensive historical datasets • More than 35 years of operational forecasting expertise The impact is clear. With 150,000 guests sailing with us every day, this capability helps our captains and operations teams identify disruptive weather several days in advance and make informed decisions that protect the guest experience. It also helps our ships sail in the most favourable conditions, improving efficiency and minimising weather-related disruption. 🚢 Prepared for every scenario at sea. Last week, MSC World Asia took part in a towing exercise off the coast of Belle-Île, organised by the Préfecture Maritime de l’Atlantique in coordination with Chantiers de l'Atlantique and Les Abeilles International. The exercise focused on validating the ability of emergency tugs to respond to incidents involving very large passenger ships, while confirming the coordination of large-scale rescue operations to help protect lives at sea and the marine environment. As part of the exercise, MSC World Asia was successfully towed for approximately 30 minutes, validating both the procedures and operational performance required for this type of intervention. MSC World Asia has officially set sail for her first sea trial.      📍Chantiers de l'Atlantique Shipyard, Saint-Nazaire, France     A milestone worth marking. Our new World Class flagship, MSC World Asia, has left the shipyard and taken to open water for the very first time, beginning the final phase of her journey towards her December debut. Summer, sea views and a little Italian indulgence… 🍦🍫 We’re delighted to build on our partnership with Venchi, the premium Italian chocolate brand already loved by guests on board our Seaside Class ships, as MSC World Asia prepares to welcome the largest Venchi chocolate experience at sea. Launching on a World Class ship for the first time, this 300m² destination will bring together a chocolate boutique, café and artisanal gelateria in the heart of the ship — a perfect spot for a holiday treat, a mid-afternoon gelato or a sweet moment after dinner. To celebrate the collaboration, MSC Cruises and Venchi are also introducing Crunchy Waves, a limited-edition gelato flavour inspired by the colours, flavours and textures of the seaside. Think creamy vanilla, crunchy hazelnut biscuit, salted toffee and a splash of Mediterranean blue.
