🔬 We are pleased to share a recent publication in Technologies by Estrada-Herrera et al. on multi-factor statistical analysis and numerical modeling of an anode-supported SOFC fueled by synthetic diesel. ⚙️ Using a validated 3D CFD model combined with a Taguchi L27 orthogonal array, the team systematically evaluated six operational parameters—temperature, fuel mass flow, pressure, current load, flow channel configuration, and methane fraction. 📈 The analysis identified current load as the most significant factor affecting cell voltage, followed by fuel flow rate and temperature. All optimal conditions maintained a steam-to-carbon ratio of 0.83–0.92, ensuring effective internal reforming. 🔋 A key outcome is a multiple linear regression surrogate model with exceptional predictive accuracy (R² = 0.9954, mean relative error 1.76%), enabling rapid performance estimation without heavy computational cost. 🌱 This work offers a robust methodology for optimizing internal-reforming SOFCs and supports the transition toward carbon-neutral power generation. 🔗 Full paper (open access): https://brnw.ch/21x4u31 #SOFC #FuelCells #CFD #TaguchiMethod #RenewableEnergy
