Extell Development <\/b>is forging ahead on its plans to build housing at <\/span>80 West 67th Street <\/b>on Manhattan\u2019s Upper West Side.<\/span><\/p>\n

Gary Barnett<\/b>\u2019s firm recently filed plans with the <\/span>New York City Department of Buildings<\/b> (DOB) for a 1.2 million-square-foot, 430-unit development with roughly 25,000 square feet of retail space in the <\/span>Lincoln Square<\/b> neighborhood. <\/span>PincusCo first reported<\/span><\/a> the news.<\/span><\/p>\n

The 1,200-foot tall building, which has an alternative address of <\/span>77 West 66th Street<\/b>, went into the planning phase<\/span> in June 2025<\/span><\/a>. Rising 86 stories, the tower will dwarf the surrounding structures in the area, most of which are no higher than 20 stories.<\/span><\/p>\n

Extell did not immediately respond to a request for comment.<\/span><\/p>\n

Extell Executive Vice President <\/span>David Rothstein<\/b> filed the plans, with<\/span> Jennifer Cheuk<\/b> of <\/span>Stephen B. Jacobs Group<\/b> listed by the DOB as the architect on the job.<\/span><\/p>\n

Extell has been busy in the area after filing plans in August 2025 to demolish the former <\/span>Walt<\/b> Disney Company<\/b>-owned <\/span>ABC<\/b> television campus at <\/span>141 Columbus Avenue<\/b> and <\/span>155 Columbus Avenue<\/b> to make way for what will likely be another residential development, <\/span>Commercial Observer reported at the time<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

It\u2019s unclear if the two developments are related.<\/span><\/p>\n

News of the projects also comes after Barnett <\/span>poached<\/span><\/a> Innovo Property Group<\/b> founder <\/span>Andrew Chung <\/b>in late March to act as his co-CEO to lead the firm\u2019s development pipeline strategy, leveraging Chung\u2019s expertise in large-scale development, institutional investment and complex capital structures.<\/span><\/p>\n

Barnett will need those skill sets, having filed plans <\/span>in October 2025<\/span><\/a> for a 71-story mixed-use tower at <\/span>871 Seventh Avenue <\/b>and acquiring 123,000 square feet of air rights over <\/span>Saint Thomas Church<\/b> at <\/span>678 Fifth Avenue<\/b> for $36 million<\/span> in November<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Barnett is also in contract to acquire <\/span>405-415 Park Avenue<\/b> and the air rights from <\/span>Central Synagogue<\/b> at <\/span>652 Lexington Avenue<\/b>, as well as <\/span>110 East 55th Street<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n
