From the first proof of concept, through rapid time to market for v1, and onwards to mature versions: Consistently created break throughs for the team in areas of scalability and problem solving difficult features such as full rights managed per-user to per-document relationships without any query-time performance penalty, de-duplication and merging of related documents (total corpus daily), high ingestion indexing rates (total corpus daily), parent-child documents, compound documents, spotlighting and grouping, custom full-text and blob storage with minimal cost cleaning, distributed processing, and other technical challenges.

Originally brought in by vendor (Endeca) to solve a difficult problem of rights management of users connected to documents through a very complex and constantly changing relationship of a user-plane-part-documents which exceeded the capabilities of the search engine at the time.

I later continued in the project to continue solving issues with integrating 50 disparate content providers for search within Boeing who also had differing needs for the same search data. Created a meta-layer for Endeca to unify the content while still allowing differences at the provider level without resorting to federated search. Also created a desktop development tool for managing the schema development of the loosely related group of indexes.

In addition, guided the Boeing development team on Java architecture, the introduction of open-source projects into Boeing, and the introduction of Agile development into the company. Mostrar menos

Created offline reader/navigator for the Compuserve system. Invented the ability to embed fonts and graphics (originally emoticons) in e-mail and forum messages by embedding an encoding stream at the end of the 7-bit text version of the message. NavCIS had a WYSIWYG editor for editing rich e-mail.
