We're testing the next generation of AeroSHARK technology! Together with our partner Surventis, we've turned a Lufthansa City Airlines A319 into a flying research lab! Over the next seven months, we'll monitor around 70 transparent film patches installed during regular short-haul operations between Munich and Hamburg. Each patch measures 20 x 20 centimeters and represents a different material composition – all designed to withstand the higher aerodynamic forces on wings, horizontal and vertical stabilizers. The goal: identify the material that combines maximum durability with easy application, straightforward cleaning, and residue-free removal. Our technicians in Hamburg will inspect the patches regularly during ground time, gathering real-world data to inform the next expansion of this biomimetic technology – including the eventual application on the wings and stabilizers of the Airbus A330ceo, which we are currently developing and certifying together with Airbus. #AeroSHARK mimics the microscopic riblet structures found on shark skin and is the only riblet technology certified for commercial aviation. In its current application on fuselage and nacelles, it cuts fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions by approximately 1 percent per flight. By July 2026, AeroSHARK-equipped aircraft had completed over 377,000 flight hours, saving more than 22,000 tons of fuel and reducing CO₂ emissions by over 70,000 tons. APS isn't about cutting corners. It's about creating certified alternatives that meet the same rigorous standards as original parts while improving availability, reducing single-supplier dependency, and delivering long-term cost predictability. At Farnborough International Airshow, we signed a 10-year Support and Services Agreement with Safran Landing Systems for Airbus A320 family, A330, A340 and A350 landing gear and hydraulic equipment. Under the agreement, Safran will provide comprehensive OEM support across our global MRO network: certified spare parts, advanced technical and engineering assistance, and access to updated maintenance documentation for all covered aircraft programs. Together, we'll optimize maintenance planning, component repairs, and operational continuity across our global landing gear facilities. The agreement specifically supports the expansion of A350 MRO capabilities at our Lufthansa Technik Landing Gear Services UK site in London, giving the team direct access to the latest OEM data and repair solutions. At the same time, it ensures continued full support for legacy types – the A320 family, A330, and A340 – at our Hamburg facilities. We are expanding into new territory. For the first time in our history, we're adding a rotary-wing aircraft to our MRO portfolio. At the Farnborough International Airshow we have just signed an agreement with Boeing to sustain Germany's new CH-47F Chinook heavy-lift helicopter fleet. Together, we will set up an agile network of parts warehouses across Germany to support the operating bases and ensure sustained readiness for the German Armed Forces. Through our subsidiary Lufthansa Technik Logistik Services, we bring decades of expertise in time-critical spare parts logistics, while Boeing contributes deep platform knowledge. Furthermore, we will manage the supply of Consumables and Expendables for the German Chinooks. "This agreement marks an important step forward in ensuring sustained readiness of the German CH-47F Chinook fleet across different bases," said Torbjorn (Turbo) Sjogren, Vice President & General Manager, Boeing Global Services – Government Services. "By combining Boeing's sustainment expertise with Lufthansa Technik's logistics and MRO capabilities, we will establish a resilient solution to maximize aircraft availability." This CH-47F agreement represents a further collaboration between Boeing and Lufthansa Technik Defense on technical sustainment for German military assets. In autumn 2025, we signed a comprehensive sustainment services program with Boeing for the German Navy's P-8A Poseidon. We have signed a 15-year partnership with Unison, a GE Aerospace company, to become the exclusive Unison-authorized MRO provider in Europe for CFM LEAP engine ignition systems! Our Hamburg component facilities will service ignition system components – including exciters and leads – for LEAP-1A, LEAP-1B, and LEAP-1C engines. Unison will supply genuine OEM parts and technical data, and we will be authorized to administer warranty for all components serviced at our facility. This collaboration gives LEAP operators across Europe a unique OEM-authorized MRO option for ignition system support, combining Unison's product expertise with our deep technical capabilities and regional presence. With more than 50 years of experience in aircraft ignition systems across all major platforms, we bring proven repair development skills and a relentless focus on component excellence to this partnership. We are further broadening our already extensive cooperation with Cebu Pacific Air: A new contract recently signed in Manila encompasses 18 additional shop events of CFM56-5Bs, the powerplants of Cebu Pacific's Airbus A320ceo family fleet! The agreement concludes the airline's final MRO tender for its legacy narrowbody engines, as it continues its transition to the A320neo family with latest-generation propulsion systems. Over the next three years, Cebu Pacific will entrust these powerplants to our engine shops in Hamburg and Dublin for comprehensive sustainment services up to complete overhauls. “At Cebu Pacific, maintaining the highest standards of airworthiness, safety and operational performance is paramount, while ensuring the efficient management of our maintenance costs. As we continue to expand our fleet, we seek partners who share our commitment to excellence and embrace a culture of innovation, agility and continuous improvement.
