"Fear used to control me." Christian was six when his first seizure changed everything. For 13 years, epilepsy dictated his friendships, his free time, and even his career plans. Medication never brought lasting relief. Today, at 20, he's training as a graphic designer, has taken up archery, and can finally get his driver's license. What changed for him is the EASEE®Epilepsie implant. For the first time, he says, he can do what other young adults take for granted. Prof. Dr. med. Bernhard Steinhoff (Kehl-Kork Epilepsy Center) calls it a real therapeutic option, without major safety risks. Hundreds of patients across Europe now carry the implant, reimbursed by health insurers. We're proud to share a special milestone: The first EASEE® implant at Azienda Sanitaria Universitaria Friuli Centrale (ASUFC) in Udine, Italy. The procedure was made possible by a dedicated team of specialists, including epileptologists Dr.ssa Giada Pauletto and Dr.ssa Annacarmen Nilo, neurosurgeons Dr. Stanislao D'Auria and Dr. Daniele Piccolo, Director of Neurology Dr. Lorenzo Verriello, Director of the Clinical Neurology Unit and Neurology Medical School Prof.ssa Mariarosaria Valente, Director of Neurosurgery Dr. Marco Vindigni, and Head of the Department of Neck and Neurosciences Prof. Massimo Robiony — together with Michele Ferrarese (AION Biotech Srl) and Christoph Scheper (PRECISIS GmbH), who supported the procedure on site. Four days. Hundreds of conversations. One question that kept coming up: "When medication doesn't work — what's next?" That question is exactly why we were at the 64th DGfE Annual Convention in Würzburg. And it's why we do what we do at PRECISIS. It was wonderful to connect with neurologists and neuropaediatricians who are thinking deeply about their patients with drug-resistant focal epilepsy and who are genuinely curious about what low invasive neurostimulation can offer.
