Saturdays in Berlin are made for breakfasts turning into day parties, wandering through the city, meeting friends and strangers, soaking up the vibe, and getting lost in the beautiful Berlin buzz. But this weekend was different ❤️ – at least for over 100 tech enthusiasts, founders and creatives that came together for the BAD1 #hackathon at The Delta to build solutions for the 𝙛𝙪𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝘽𝙚𝙧𝙡𝙞𝙣. People from all over the world – India, Turkey, Syria, the US, Japan, China, South Africa and many other places – showed up and contribute to shape the future of this city. It was an honor to represent RCKT - A Dentsu Creative Company and dentsu as a jury member of the hackathon alongside Laura Möller (JUNI), Julian Teicke, Norbert Herrmann and Kazuna Yamamoto. The discussions were intense and the ideas inspiring — from ecosystem platforms and startup-corporate matchings to solutions helping international founders build in Germany and navigate the German jungle. 🚀 Congratulations to 𝙎𝙩𝙖𝙧-𝙪𝙥 🥇 for winning the hackathon, closely followed by 𝙃𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙤𝙇𝙚𝙣𝙖 🥈 and 𝙆𝙞𝙚𝙯𝙁𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙨 🥉 And thank you to everyone who helped make BAD1 hackathon happen Eleonora Faini & team. “Almost real” is the fastest way to fail. People have already clocked AI content. You see it and you immediately know it’s AI: loud, weird, over the top. Too many talking animals, too much “look what it can do.”, too far off real. The new top league is much quieter. It’s about holding the illusion of reality long enough that no one questions it. Consistency is the new craft and believability is the new benchmark. We’ve just finished this commercial for French cosmetic brand Nuxe. It’s in Cinemaxx cinemas right now ahead of The Devil wears Prada 2. No shoot. No set. No retouching pipelines. Just an obsession for consistency and a crafted AI-workflow. Our goal: Realness Getting the products to look exactly right. Not just once, but across every single frame. Then there’s skin. We wanted not just skin, we wanted credible skin. Texture without distraction. Glow without plastic. Imperfection without losing aspiration. Kudos to Alex H. Texas – Austin – SXSW 2026 — where technology, startups, music and creative industries melt to shape what’s next. SXSW stands out for its unique mix of technology, music, film, and culture, bringing together creatives, startups, and global leaders to spark innovation and unexpected collaborations. 🇩🇪 Right in the middle of it: the GERMAN HAUS – showcasing Germany’s creative tech ecosystem and connecting founders, creatives, investors and institutions from around the world. ✨ Germany showed up strong this year: An excellent delegation of more than 100 startups 🚀 traveled with us to SXSW (some of them in the comment), alongside nearly 20 music acts 🎸 from Germany presenting the creative side of our ecosystem. 🌍 This year’s program also reflected the strong political and international support — with the Kai Hennig, German Consulate General Houston, Jean P. Froehly, Embassy of Germany in Washington, D.C., Jane Nelson and Carlos Ealy, Office of the Texas Secretary of State, and guests from Ireland, the UK and the Netherlands as well as a delegation from the EU visiting and contributing to our German Haus program. 🎤 Together with Christina Schmidt-Holtmann (BMDS), I had the opportunity, to present the German startup ecosystem and highlight how innovation, entrepreneurship, and creativity from Germany are making an impact on the global stage: de:hub Initiative, German Accelerator & #StartupFactories. ⭐ A personal highlight was talking on behalft of the Berlin House and Berlin Partner für Wirtschaft und Technologie GmbH: moderating the panel “Ecosystem-Building in Creative Technologies – From Institutions to Living Networks.” Together with an outstanding group of panelists: Jeannine Koch, Fred Poston, Nira Bozkurt, Martin Eyerer & Christoph Backes. We explored how strong creative ecosystems evolve and how the next generation of ecosystems will be shaped. ⚡ Special shout-out to #JOPLYN, who – besides many other artists – brought the energy along — lighting up the stage and the decks. 🔥 Local tip: Terry Black’s Barbecue — come hungry, leave happy (and probably a bit obsessed with the best brisket and ribs in Texas). 🤝 Huge thanks to our moderator Zackes Brustik for elevating the stage with such energy as well as the incredible teams behind the scenes: Openers, Inshorefilms - sustainable filmproduction and Speakeasy.
