Info

SIGNeV — Scienziati Italiani in Germania in Network (Netzwerk italienischer WissenschaftlerInnen in Deutschland) e.V. — is a non-profit association connecting Italian-trained scientists working in Germany across all disciplines. STEM, life sciences, social sciences, and humanities. The network is open to individuals of any nationality who received scientific education or training, or held research positions in Italy, and are now professionally active in Germany. Scientists trained in Germany and now active in Italy are equally welcome. Institutional members representing science in both countries can also join. SIGNeV is officially registered with the District Court (Amtsgericht) Berlin-Charlottenburg (VR40051B) and holds the European Unique Identifier EUID DEF1103R.VR4005. The association's seat is located at the Italian Embassy in Berlin (Hiroshimastraße 1, 10785 Berlin). Its honorary president is the Italian Ambassador pro tempore. The network currently counts 84 active members and serves as a platform for scientific exchange, professional visibility, and institutional dialogue between the Italian and German research ecosystems. Activities include events, outreach initiatives, and advocacy for cross-border scientific collaboration. SIGNeV operates as a registered charity in Germany. Donations are 100% tax-deductible. For contributions up to 300 euros, a simplified proof (bank statement or online banking confirmation) is sufficient for tax purposes. For larger donations, a formal Spendenquittung is provided. Membership is open upon approval by the Executive Board. Applications can be submitted via email to council@SIGN-network.eu. Whether you are an early-career researcher navigating the Italian-German academic landscape or an established professional in industry, SIGNeV provides a structured, credible network grounded in scientific identity rather than geography alone.
