Moreover, the paper seeks to identify the Critical Success Factors (CSFs) that directly influence the ISO 9001 effectiveness in Jordanian consulting engineering firms.Design/methodology/approachA questionnaire was constructed and distributed to a sample of 125 employees from six ISO 9001-consulting firms. After collecting the data, exploratory factor analysis was utilized to validate the latent constructs (CSFs, ISO 9001 Effectiveness, and Firm Performance).FindingsThe findings suggest that firms experience a high level of ISO 9001 effectiveness. Moreover, among the five identified CSFs; employee attributes, external environmental pressure and quality system attribute had a significant impact on the ISO 9001 effectiveness, while internal motivation and firm attrib...

Five lean supply chain management practices were identified based on an extensive literature review, just-in-time system, flow of information, supplier relationship, customer relationship, and waste reduction. To achieve the study goals, a survey questionnaire was prepared and distributed to managers of 400 manufacturing companies from different sectors and sizes. The final number of returned usable questionnaires was 308, representing a response rate of 77%. The results revealed positive and significant effects of three lean supply chain management practices on market performance, namely, JIT system, flow of information, and customer relationship. In addition, all lean supply chain management practices showed positive and significant effects on supply chain performance. Furthermore, supply chain performa...

The designed framework included six main categories, comprising 19 indicators that include sustainable building principles to assess application levels in government construction projects. It was used to evaluate applying sustainability practices in Jordanian government construction projects. 133 questionnaires were distributed to a convenience sample of three government institutions concerned with the design, implementation, and management of government buildings in Jordan.FindingsAfter collecting the quantitative data, the results sh...

Implementing Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system for Malaysian Small to Medium Enterprises ... more Implementing Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system for Malaysian Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs) is not just a technological challenge. It is a socio-technological endeavour which mandates modifying existing applications and redesigning business processes to facilitate ERP system implementation. Most Malaysian SMEs cannot afford to adopt an existing ERP system due to the extremely high cost and complex implementation. The ERP system implementation literature contains many case studies of organizations that have implemented ERP system successfully. However, many Malaysian SMEs do not achieve success in their ERP system implementation. There are very few studies have represented and developed critical success factors of ERP system implementation projects highlighted for SMEs. This research seeks to explore the critical success factors for successful ERP system implementation in Malaysian SMEs. The research method is based on a case study within Malaysian SME to perform a critical success factors model of ERP system implementation adoption which has validated by a number of SMEs in Malaysia. The proposed model will help outline the critical factors that should be considered by Malaysian SMEs in successfully adopting ERP system.

It is then the aim to perform a study that seeks to investigate the relationship between codification and personalization knowledge sharing strategies on three main pillars of organizational excellence which were adapted by the award. These pillars include: customer focus, results orientation and transparency. Survey method employing a questionnaire as a technique for collecting data was used. The survey involves four selected government organizations who won the award in the fourth cycle (2008/2009) and are familiar with the topic of this study. 500 questionnaires were distributed using the simple random sampling technique yielding to 191 usable responses. The data collected was analyzed using SPSS version 15. To ensure the validity and reliability of the instrument, factor analysis and reliability test were performed. Analysis revealed that there are positive and significant relationships between codification and personalization knowledge sharing strategies and each of the organizational excellence pillars. The results of multiple regression analyses indicated that codification knowledge sharing strategies is a more significant predictor of each organizational pillar than personalization knowledge sharing strategies. The results of this study could encourage public organizations in adopting knowledge sharing strategies to enhance their organizational excellence.

The research goal is to utilize a real history data in estimating project cost and duration. The model results can be used to adjust floats and budgets of the planning schedule before project commencement. Statistical regression models and sample tests are developed using real data of 113 public projects. The model outputs can be used by project managers in the planning phase to validate the schedule critical path time and project budget. The comparison of means analysis for project cost and time performance indicated that the sample projects tend to finish over budget and almost on schedule. Regression models were developed to model project cost and time. The regression analysis showed that the project budgeted cost and planned project duration provide a good basis for estimating the cost and duration. The regression model results were validated by estimating the prediction error in percent and through conducting out-of-sample tests. In conclusion, the models were validated at a probability of 95%, at which the proposed models predict the project cost and duration at an error margin of Ϯ0.035% of the actual cost and time.

This study aims to investigate the levels of occupants’ satisfaction with the indoor environmental quality (IEQ) in the governmental buildings in the Kingdom of Bahrain and to investigate the impact of occupants’ demographics and building attributes (non-IEQ factors) on these levels. For these purposes, the study used a questionnaire that has 17 indoor environmental quality (IEQ) factors in addition to a group of non-IEQ factors. The questionnaire was distributed by hand or using email to 279 employees in the Bahraini governmental sector. The findings of the study revealed that occupants in the Bahraini governmental buildings are not strongly satisfied with IEQ factors, especially with sound privacy, followed by visual privacy and amount of space, and then noise levels. The findings also showed that for most IEQ factors, men are more satisfied than women are, those who work in ...

Design/methodology/approach -Twenty quality factors were identified from the literature and ranked by respondents. Next, the weighted indices for importance and frequency of quality variables were calculated. The quality variables were ranked according to their severity index. Finally, the principal component and factor analysis methodology was employed to arrive at the most prominent factors. Findings -Major factors affecting quality were human resource management, customer satisfaction, uses of technology and supplier management. Although both samples of architects and contractors chose the factor "uses of technology" as the common factor, the t-test showed statistically significant differences in the means of both samples. Originality/value -This study's findings build on prior research conducted in different countries. The major factors identified in this study are compared to other similar studies' findings, thereby adding to the available literature on factors affecting quality in the housing sector in developing countries.

This research fills these knowledge gaps by exploring the relationship between IT adoption and job satisfaction from the perspective of construction companies, contractors, consultants, and architectural and engineering firms in Jordan. Measures were developed using MSQ and IT Barometer surveys. Three hundred questionnaires were distributed to investigate this relationship among different companies from the Jordanian construction sector. Descriptive statistics were obtained and hypotheses were tested using multiple regression analysis. Results show that more investment in technology would increase employee job satisfaction regarding intrinsic, extrinsic, and general perspectives.

To ensure customer loyalty, firms must satisfy their customers with the products or services they provide. In recent years, the Jordanian housing industry has witnessed a rapid rise in the number of constructed residential apartment buildings. Hence, this paper focuses on apartments in Amman (the Jordanian capital) to identify, describe, and measure factors contributing to customer satisfaction with apartment housing. Four zones were chosen to incorporate significant variation in the apartments‘ materials, finishes, amenities, and budgets into the data. We developed a survey to explore customer satisfaction with apartment housing in Amman. Residents in zone A were found to be the most satisfied with their apartments. In addition to identifying the zone which contained the most satisfied inhabitants, we identified variables that significantly affect residents‘ satisfaction with their housing. Apartment building developers can...

This research attempts to fill these knowledge gaps by exploring the relationship between IT adoption and job satisfaction from the perspective of Jordanian contracting firms. Measures were developed using MSQ and IT Barometer surveys. 50 questionnaires were distributed to investigate this relationship among different contracting companies in Jordan. Descriptive statistics were obtained and hypotheses were tested using multiple regression analysis. Results point out that more investment in technology would rather increase employee job satisfaction regarding intrinsic and general perspectives.
