An excellent discussion on one of the emerging challenges in aquafeed formulation. Read the key takeaways from the workshop.
Organising this workshop alongside Brett Glencross and my Lucta colleagues Thiago Raggi and Alex (Li Dong) has undoubtedly been one of the most rewarding professional experiences I've had. These are the kinds of moments that remind you why research matters. Bringing together researchers and industry colleagues to explore a question that doesn't yet have an answer, but has the potential to shape the future of aquafeed formulation. In our case, the question was: Can palatability be brought into the formulation matrix? I believe this discussion marked the beginning of something important. Bringing palatability into the formulation matrix will not be straightforward, but if this workshop has helped plant the seed, then all the work behind it has been worthwhile. I'm deeply grateful to all the presenters, Marit Nederlof, André Dumas (with Hung Quang Tran), Albert Tacon and Richard Smullen, who did a fantastic job of setting the scene for the discussion, and to all the participants, whose engagement, critical thinking and willingness to share their experience made the workshop what it was.
