🌿🐴 Exploring innovation in extensive horse farming in Galicia!  As part of the EUnetHorse project, members of CTC visited Finca Enxebreza, a 1,200-hectare extensive livestock farm in Vilalba (Galicia, Spain), managed by young farmer Xabier Paz.  During the visit, they discovered how traditional livestock farming and innovative technologies can work together to support sustainable horse breeding, animal welfare, and efficient farm management in challenging mountain environments. The farm combines cattle and horses in extensive grazing systems and is strongly committed to preserving the native Pura Raza Galega horse breed.  We also had the opportunity to observe several EUnetHorse solutions plus others in practice, including:  🌾 Mixed grazing with different livestock species to improve pasture utilisation.  🐎 Preservation of native horse breeds adapted to local conditions.  📱 GPS collars and digital tools for animal monitoring and farm management.  🚁 Drones to locate and manage herds across large grazing areas.  🫏 Guard animals, including donkeys and mules, to help protect livestock from predators.  It was an inspiring visit that demonstrated how innovation, traditional knowledge, and extensive livestock farming can work together to strengthen rural communities, improve resilience, and promote sustainable livestock production.  📷 © C.
