Ryan Brown
Ryan Brown is a non-traditional, distance PhD student at the University of Exeter, specializing in lithic analysis and experimental archaeology. His fascination with stone tools began before he could read and helped motivate his early education. He has published multiple papers on gunflints across a range of publications. His work focuses on the manufacture, performance, and use-life of stone tools, particularly in early modern contexts. Brown is especially known for his hands-on experimental approach, bringing practical replication and analytical rigor together in the study of lithic technology. He is the proud father of six children and the fortunate husband of his successful and supportive wife.
