A welcome clarification for functional precision medicine! 🔬 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) has clarified the status of Functional Precision Medicine (FPM) in oncology. FPM combines genomic and molecular information with functional testing of how living, patient-derived tumor material responds to treatments outside the body. The new Clinical Notice distinguishes modern FPM from early chemosensitivity assays covered by archived guidance from 2004 and 2011. ASCO explicitly supports the advancement of the field, while noting that the evidence base for clinical use is still maturing. For Solid IO, this matters. Our tumor-on-chip platform uses intact patient-derived tumor tissue to generate functional data while preserving the tumor immune microenvironment. This allows us to study how treatments affect tumor and immune cells together. Clearer definitions and stronger evidence standards allow modern functional approaches to be evaluated based on current science and real clinical evidence. Why do some lung cancer patients benefit from immunotherapy while others don't? Despite major advances in cancer treatment, many patients still don't achieve durable responses to current immunotherapies. Understanding the biology behind treatment resistance remains one of the biggest challenges in oncology. This week at the 50th FEBS Congress in Maastricht, our CSO Heidi Haikala shared new findings on how the spatial organization of the tumor immune microenvironment, and the role of cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs), may physically suppress anti-tumor immune responses. In her presentation, "Outsmarting Lung Cancer: Studying Immunotherapy Resistance Using Fully Human Model Systems", she demonstrated how advanced human-relevant models can help uncover the mechanisms driving immunotherapy resistance and provide insights that could support the development of more effective treatment strategies. Thank you to the FEBS organizers for bringing together researchers dedicated to advancing our understanding of cancer biology and improving patient outcomes. #FEBSCongress2026

📣 We are excited to welcome LSI Zeta and Leo Capital to support our next phase of growth in personalized immuno-oncology. Building a globally relevant life science company takes much more than capital. It requires partners who understand both the scientific and commercial realities of healthcare innovation. At an early stage, we also value investors who are genuinely willing to support the team beyond capital. A big thank you to Kristofer Klerfalk, Ann-Charlotte Beckman and Magnus Klaesson from Life Science Invest, and Olga Balakina and Shwetank Verma from Leo Capital, our existing investors Nordic Science Investments and BSV Ventures, and everyone who has supported us along the way. 🌟 Read more: https://lnkd.in/eMayqsaD

EACR 2026 is underway in Budapest, bringing together cancer researchers from around the world to share the latest advances in cancer science. Our CSO, Heidi Haikala, is taking the stage today, presenting her latest research on tumor-immune circuits in lung cancer during a special session hosted by 10x Genomics. Her work highlights the complex interactions between tumors and immune cells, and how transcriptomics is helping us decode what's really happening inside the tumor microenvironment. Exciting science, and great to be part of the conversation at #EACR2026. 🔬 #CancerResearch #TumorMicroenvironment #LungCancer #SingleCell #Immunotherapy
