Solid-state fermentation (SSF) is one of the oldest forms of fermentation, yet it is playing an increasingly important role in today's industrial biotechnology landscape, offering exciting opportunities for the development and production of innovative bioproducts. But successful industrialization requires much more than the technology itself. Robust product development, effective scale-up, seamless technology transfer, and the right manufacturing capabilities and partnerships all play a critical role. In this first video, we're kicking off a new Agrauxine by Lesaffre series exploring SSF, CDMO and toll manufacturing. Over the coming weeks, we'll share insights into the technical, operational and strategic challenges and opportunities that come with bringing innovative bioprocess to industrial scale. ▶️ Watch the video to discover where it all begins.

🐝 This year's honey harvest at our Agrauxine by Lesaffre headquarters in Beaucouzé is in! Once again, our passionate beekeeper Matthieu Cheptou helped bring in the crop from our 2 beehives on site. 🍯 This season's harvest produced 70 honey pots, which have been distributed to colleagues in Beaucouzé and Loches, to our European colleagues who were with us for a seminar, and to some of our on-site service providers, as a thank you for their work with us. 🙏 A big thank you to Matthieu Cheptou for his guidance and expertise, and to everyone who took part in this sweet moment of connection!

Retour sur Les #VegelliaDES2026 🚜 🌾🧑🌾   En mai dernier, notre équipe, représentée par Benjamin JACQUART, était sur le terrain près de Troyes (FR- Aubes) à l'occasion de la journée technique organisée par Soufflet Agriculture, dans le cadre des VégelliaDES 2026 — la première édition de ce nouvel événement porté par Végellia, réseau aubois de références agricoles et accueilli par le Lycée de Sainte-Maure. Une belle occasion d'échanger directement avec les agriculteurs autour des sujets du moment : ▪️ Biostimulants et engrais phosphatés ▪️ Variétés de colza, blé et orge ▪️ Gestion fongicide sur colza 450 agriculteurs sont venus voir les parcelles sur place et échanger avec les équipes présentes — avant de partager ensemble un aligot traditionnel avec de la viande de boeuf. Participer à ce genre de journées nous permet d'avoir des échanges concrets sur le terrain, et nous donne l'occasion d'entendre directement les agriculteurs sur leurs enjeux et ce qui est le plus important pour eux dans la gestion quotidienne de leurs exploitations. Bringing more than 14 years of international experience in industrial biotechnology, fermentation and commercial manufacturing, Apostolos joins us to support the international development of Agrauxine's Toll Manufacturing & CDMO business. 🤝 In his role, Apostolos will focus on developing strategic partnerships with biotechnology companies, start-ups and industrial partners worldwide, helping customers move from process development through scale-up to commercial manufacturing while reinforcing Agrauxine's position as a leading European solid-state fermentation partner. 💼 Prior to joining Agrauxine, Apostolos held international technical and commercial roles at Novozymes, the DuPont–BP Joint Venture, Cargill and Bio Base Europe Pilot Plant, before leading business development activities with biotechnology organisations including Arxada (ex-Lonza Speciality Ingredients), TWB and EV Biotech. Throughout his career, he has built international commercial partnerships, supported technology transfer and scale-up programmes, negotiated manufacturing agreements and worked across both client and CDMO environments. ☕ 🥐  Talking about safety over coffee? That’s exactly the idea behind the monthly "Safety Coffee" initiative at our Beaucouzé site. Once a month, employees gather for a 15-minute informal session led by a colleague, with the support of Alexandra Michelet, HSE Manager, to discuss health and safety topics in a practical, engaging and friendly way. The goal? Make safety part of everyday conversations while creating a moment of connection around a coffee/tea and croissant. So far, we’ve held two sessions:  🚴 Mickaël CADIOU shared his experience as a regular cyclist, explaining how he has progressively improved his cycling practices and equipment to travel more safely. The session also included a reminder of mandatory cycling equipment and will be followed in September by a practical training course delivered by the local association Place aux Vélos to help employees cycle safely across the Angers area. 🎯 Alison Oliver turned Lesaffre’s Critical Life Procedures into an interactive emoji quiz, challenging colleagues to identify each procedure through a series of emojis. The objective was to revisit these essential safety rules in a fun and memorable way. These procedures provide simple and clear instructions designed to prevent fatalities and serious injuries, helping protect both employees and contractors across Lesaffre sites.
