L'équipe Agris d'Algaia a intégré depuis quelques mois Charlotte BOURNET, ingénieure développement produits et support technico-commercial. Basée à notre centre R&D de Saint-Lô, Charlotte participe à la conception de nouvelles solutions à base d’algues pour l’agriculture, aux côtés des équipes R&D. Ses missions couvrent aussi bien l'accompagnement scientifique et réglementaire que le support technique aux équipes commerciales et aux clients. Diplômée de Polytech Sorbonne et titulaire d'un DUT Génie biologique, elle apporte son expérience en biostimulants, procédés de production et valorisation des biomasses, acquise en laboratoire mais aussi sur le terrain. "Je suis ravie de contribuer à la valorisation des algues et au développement de solutions naturelles au service de l'agriculture. 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗻𝗼 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝘀𝗸 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗯𝗶𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗺𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸. 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗮𝘀𝗸 𝗵𝗼𝘄. This is one of the main take-away message Emma Upton brought back from Plant BioProTech in Reims. As part of her PhD thesis, she was there to present 𝗣𝗨𝗟𝗦𝗘, Priming Using Seaweed Extracts, a poster born from our collaboration with the Université de Bordeaux and INRAE. Can seaweed extract sub-fractions prepare tomato plants to resist heat stress before it strikes? Early results point that way with different fractions activating distinct response pathways. Her PhD thesis will push further into these molecular mechanisms, sharpening how we design the next generation of agri-ingredients and monitoring the PULSE of plant resilience😉. Le vendredi 3 juillet, l'équipe de notre site de Lannilis s'est retrouvée autour d'un barbecue saucisses/merguez convivial sous le radieux soleil breton. Ce moment de détente a aussi été l’occasion de célébrer le départ en retraite de deux collaborateurs qui ont marqué l'histoire du site. 𝗚𝗲𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝗕𝗮𝗹𝗰𝗼𝗻 , chef de poste ligne alginates entré dans l’entreprise le 1er janvier 1986, soit 40 ans de service. 𝗢𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗲𝗿 𝗝𝗼𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗺, opérateur de jour depuis le 5 février 2007, soit près de 19 ans de service. Leur savoir-faire et leur engagement ont accompagné la croissance du site pendant toutes ces années ce dont nous les remercions. Chez Algaia, la cohésion des équipes se construit sur le terrain aussi grâce à ces temps partagés, jour après jour. Merci à toutes celles et ceux qui font vivre notre site chaque jour, et une très belle retraite à Georges et Olivier.

𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗣𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 - 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗲𝘅𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗳𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗻-𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮 The bacteria living on our skin may be quietly speeding up how it ages. A new peer-reviewed study in Marine Drugs MDPI, from our collaboration with Givaudan Active Beauty, puts numbers on it. Skin microbes release porphyrins that dull the complexion and deepen wrinkles, a process Givaudan names Porphyr'ageing™. Algaia -JRS Group supplied and characterised the active that counters it: an upcycled 𝘓𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘢 𝘩𝘺𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘣𝘰𝘳𝘦𝘢 extract rich in laminaran and mannitol. From bacterial cultures to a double-blind clinical trial, it lowered coproporphyrin III by 43% in vitro and facial porphyrins by 12.9% in vivo, and raised collagen I by 30% in skin explants. Maud Le GELEBART carried Algaia's seaweed expertise to the heart of Brittany's bioeconomy, both as member of the scientific committee and speaker at #Bio2Actives2026. For three days in Quimper, the conference gathered over a hundred researchers and industry players around bioresources and their valorisation. On the scientific committee, Maud helped shape this edition led by Biotech Santé Bretagne. As part of an improvised (due to a power cut) round table, Maud introduced the work conducted within the SeaMark European Project on ulva biorefinery and the development of valuable fractions, a key step towards unlocking the full potential of green macroalgae. This unexpected round table sparked an even richer exchange on seaweed valorisation. Stay tuned : a September webinar is already planned to explore further the findings of this project. From research to industrial scale, Algaia keeps on championing the valorisation of algal biomass.
