Nearly one million aircraft movements annually will be managed by a new generation of air traffic management technology by 2030. The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) has selected Thales to modernise its air traffic management system and air traffic control radars. Combining Artificial Intelligence, advanced cybersecurity and real-time decision support, the new NexGen system will help air traffic controllers manage one of Asia's busiest flight information regions more efficiently while reducing delays, fuel consumption and carbon emissions. The project also covers knowledge transfer, including through having CAAS officers join the project office in France, alongside localisation projects in Singapore. ELI‑NP: Excellence maintained in the long term On 20 July, Thales and its partners in Romania sign a renewed maintenance support contract for the ELI‑NP laser. This agreement is built on a simple goal: preserve the laser’s performance and availability every day, so that breakthrough science can continue reliably. At ELI‑NP, Thales has already contributed to major technological milestones, including 10 petawatt laser pulses focused on solid targets for the first time in the world, a landmark for laser–plasma physics and research in fundamental and societal applications.
