Dublin Zoo is hiring a Keeper Grade 1 - Elephants 🐘 We are seeking to recruit a highly motivated and diligent Keeper (G1) to work as part of the animal management team. This role involves the day-to-day care, welfare, and management of animals, including diet preparation, habitat maintenance, and enrichment. Working closely with Senior Keepers and Team Leaders, you will contribute to high standards of animal husbandry, support training, and behavioural work, and help create safe and engaging environments for the animals in your care. Hosted by members of our Conservation and Science team, these free 15-minute talks will explore a range of topics, from Irish to global conservation partnerships with organisations such as the Red Panda Network, Giraffe Conservation Foundation, Seal Rescue Ireland and more! Our commitment to accessibility continues beyond this weekend. Visitors can also learn how to sign the names of some of the species at Dublin Zoo along our ISL Trail, kindly supported by Chime The National Charity for Deaf & Hard of Hearing People, by scanning QR codes located at selected habitats throughout the Zoo. Today on World Giraffe Day, we're celebrating the Nubian giraffe, one of the most endangered giraffe subspecies in the world 🦒 Keeper Nathan answers some of the questions we've received from our audience while sharing fascinating insights into these remarkable animals. As part of our commitment to wildlife conservation, Dublin Zoo supports conservation efforts for Nubian giraffes through the Giraffe Conservation Foundation and is proud to participate in the European breeding programme for this species. We're delighted to announce that Animal Bricktacular is now open at Dublin Zoo 🧱🦁   Featuring more than 40 life-sized animal sculptures built from an incredible 3.5 million bricks, this unique experience offers visitors a new way to engage with wildlife, creativity and conservation during their visit.   Included with standard Zoo admission, Animal Bricktacular sits alongside Dublin Zoo's 400+ animals and habitats, creating an experience that combines imagination, learning and connection with the natural world.   As always, every visit to Dublin Zoo supports our work in animal care, education and wildlife conservation, both in Ireland and around the world.   A huge thank you to everyone involved in bringing this exciting experience to life. Travel back to 1833 with us! ⏳ Learn more about Cottage Orné’s restoration: bit.ly/4oaN0qR Believed to be the oldest surviving zoo entrance lodge in the world, the historic thatched Cottage Orné has recently been restored using traditional craftsmanship and specialist conservation techniques 🌱 The restoration was celebrated yesterday with Minister of State Kevin 'Boxer' Moran TD and supported through funding from the Government of Ireland via the Office of Public Works and by Dublin City Council through the Built Heritage Investment Scheme. Be sure to pop by Dublin Zoo and behold the beautiful Cottage Orné and its amazing history for yourself!
