The differentiation would enable artisan communities to thrive in competitive markets uplifting their economic condition thereby promoting economic development of the area as handicrafts require local materials, traditional knowledge, and ar geographic tisanal skills. Block-printed textile crafts of Bagru and Sanganer are regis tered GIs from Rajasthan, however, the artisans of the craft have not ex ploited their GI status for marketing or product differentiation. This study was conducted with artisans from Bagru and Sanganer to determine their current issues with the value chain and their understanding of GI for their products. The discussions include appropriate pricing, counterfeiting of products, low capital, lack of knowledge about GI and future expectations of the artisans. The discussion builds on creating a future roadmap tor the artisans.

The artisan sector is a significant contributor to the economies and cultural heritage of many co... more The artisan sector is a significant contributor to the economies and cultural heritage of many countries. However, artisans often face challenges in accessing markets and customers, limiting their income and growth prospects. Kota, Rajasthan is well known for its handicraft textile product Kota Doria fabric. The textile craft is characterized by typical square patterns in weaving known as 'khat' and has a registered Geographical Indication (GI) that gives the product authentication of originality. Despite the local popularity of this handcrafted product, the artisans are not reaping adequate monetary benefits because they require intermediaries to sell the products. Digital platforms could offer a promising solution to connect artisans to markets, providing them greater visibility, customer access, and improved livelihoods. India is well known for its reach of digital payment platforms through Unified Payments Interface (UPI) and good internet connectivity through mobile service providers. The study is aimed at studying the current channels of distribution and publicity used by the artisans in Kota and suggests the potential benefits of digital platform for the artisans.

In Chohtan, the lovely creations were done by female artisans. Numerous components were responsible for their destitute living guidelines. In this manner, analysts must examine and record the socioeconomic status of women artisans. To accumulate data, information was collected from 130 women artisans who had fallen below the age of 31-40 years a long time through purposive irregular examination. A meeting plan was utilised to collect information on the socioeconomic status of women artisans. They came about to uncover that the lion's share of women artisans are living in exceptionally destitute and defenceless conditions. The lion's share of ladies is ignorant. Their month-to-month pay is less, and they, as a rule, borrowed cash from neighbourhood pioneers and neighbours. Consequently, it proposed that the government give a mindfulness campaign to the existing plans to the women artisans so that their social and financial condition can be improved.

Rajasthan has a rich cultural heritage in textiles which can be seen through it's exquisite tradi... more Rajasthan has a rich cultural heritage in textiles which can be seen through it's exquisite traditions of dying printing and embroideries. at present most of the geographical indications in Rajasthan are dominated by textile craft and one of the most economically viable craft are the ones are from Sanganer and Bagru. Both these places are known for the unique block printing traditions and their motives are known all over the world for their uniqueness and style. Both these crafts have been granted GIs for over a decade now and there have been no of industries for the manufacturers of the craft. The other side of these textile crafts are consumers who are willing to or have been buying these crafts for a long period of time. The paper discusses the impact of their knowledge towards these product and the effects on their attitude and buying behavior. The paper is based on primary research evidence of controlled size set of for consumers Jaipur to determine the respondents knowledge of GIs on the towards Sanganer and Bagru textiles and whether the knowledge has any impact on their purchase behavior. The paper uses both qualitative and quantitative data and uses a closed ended questionnaire to research consumer attitude and behaviors. The same could be utilized to increase the impact of GI's on the potential consumers so that they are able to identify the authentic product and are also willing to pay a premium for the same.

It is the rising concern of the environmental impact of the industry. Wastewater, carbon, and textile waste are the different types of waste being generated by the fashion and textile industry. Textile waste is generated in two phases i.e., during production (textile leftovers) and postproduction (discarded textiles). Researchers in the field of sustainability are thus talking about responsible consumption, recycling as well as upcycling of used or unused waste materials. Upcycling is a powerful way to reduce waste and provides a valuable product from the waste. The paper aims to explore the existing practices of unutilized textile material in apparel industry, develop kitchen linen using waste fabrics generated from manufacturing units and assess the acceptability of developed upcycled products. The information about practices of manufacturing was collected from 20 apparel export houses, tailors and boutiques of Jaipur. Self-structured interview schedule, supplemented by observations were used to collect the data. Keeping the waste in mind, thirty kitchen linen designs were developed using CAD software i.e., apron, microwave glove, pot holder, vegetable bag, cup coasters and table runner. Five designs in each category of kitchen linen were selected by 30 house maker women in the age group of 30-45 years using 5-point rating scale. The designs with the highest rank were constructed and the acceptability of the products were assessed. The range of products developed indicates that upcycling is a good way to manage textile waste.

Each state holds its place regarding handicrafts and culture in a unique manner. Barmer in Rajasthan is one such place where the women artisans reside who are practicing traditional embroidery crafts. These skillful hands of the women artisan community are the real hero who is forming the backbone to keep the rich cultural craft traditions alive for many years. Despite of such great contribution towards traditional crafts from generation to generation, the living situation is vulnerable. Even after so many efforts from government and non-government organizations, the situation is not improved. The clusters in Barmer are less recognised and deprived of various promotional schemes launched by Go's and NGOs. Therefore, an attempt was made to fulfill this gap by suggesting possible remedies to various issues faced by women artisans. The majority four main concerns were opted to address by the researcher. This paper focuses on providing solutions through developed tools by the researcher for creating awareness among women artisans involved in the traditional embroidery craft of Barmer.

The study is based on designing extendable clothing that can grow along with the child's growth and can be used over multiple ages. Devising such clothing to tackle the fast outgrown and sizing issue in children's apparel. This will bring a worthwhile and positive change to consumer's shopping experiences, especially as parents who face challenges in finding garments compatible with their children's proportion and are adaptive to fit various body size and types. The study was conducted using a survey method in which a total of 100 respondents were approached to know the preferences of mothers for their children's clothes. Convenience sampling was used to select mothers having child that falls in the age group of 0 to 6 years. Descriptive statistics such as frequency and percentage were used to analyse the data. Fifteen garments were designed keeping the extendable component. Evaluation of 10 designs was done by academicians and industry experts. The most preferred three garments were created for children of 2 to 6 years and acceptability was evaluated by the mothers. The study recommends to mass produce such clothing and bring easily accessible in the market. This will also cater to the need of sustainability.

It is a delightful way to create decorative fabric. Applique is one of the traditional and finest craft of India Appliqué is a French term that signifies the process of attaching one fabric or motifs to a foundation fabric by means of stitches, to form a design or a pattern. The patches are stitched onto the foundation fabric to create different forms and patterns, unlike patchwork in which small pieces of cut fabric are joined at the edge to make a larger piece of cloth. These designs are limited in order to preserve the decorative appliqué motifs and the present study was planned with an objective to collect the motifs of the Barmer area developed a new design and apply them Men's garments s and to diversify the product as consumers are demanding for new designs in apparels. The motifs were collected from the site and were used for apparel designing using Corel Draw software. Collected motifs were classified into broad and narrow border design, central design, and buti designs. These were used for designing on kurta using Computer-aided designing.

Khadi is a versatile fashion fabric and has been used as a tool to navigate India through its hard-won independence. Unlike from other fabrics, khadi has marked as evidence of India's past and is evidence that "Old is truly Gold." Khadi represents our heritage tradition, nationality and culture that was inspired with contemporary. Known as the "Fabric of India", khadi has proven to be a culture in itself, one that precisely speaks the pride of our country's achievements. Khadi has a rich potential for Indian market. It cannot be competed with the mill made fabric, but should create its own niche with the uniqueness of its weaving and raw textured look. In the present market scenario khadi has not witnessed much change in terms of design, colour and readymade khadi apparel. It needs repositioning in designing of apparels and building up a new image for old fashioned khadi bhandars and sale outlets as well as designing of khadi readymade apparel. An attempt has been made to find out various aspects which involves in making khadi being old fashioned and not the first choice of the customers. The present study aims to analyse the present status of khadi and suggests measures to reposition khadi from being old fashioned to meet today's requirements of the modern market.

Archival sources confirm that Sawai Jai Singh invited artists and craftsmen from different parts of the country to settle at Jaipur, among whom were zari workers from Surat and printers from Gujarat in general. Presumably he also brought some craftsmen from Malwa because the Sanganer cotton prints show JAIPUR is a town that nourished old values for the diverse art form. One such art form stays deep rooted in the minds of people. This art form is known sanganeri hand block printing. Sanganer is located on the edge of a broad riverbank in the Dhundhar region of Rajputana currently known as Rajasthan. Sanganer is located on prime fertile land at the bank of Amanishah which is flourished with a large community of gardeners. During the 11th century Kachchwaha Rajputs migrated to the area around Jaipur where they were defeated by the aboriginal Minas and established Amber or Amer as a military fortification and capital. The Kachchwha Prince Sangaji founded Sanganer as a Tehsil or sub district in the early 16th century which was developed into a printing centre in later centuries. By the 17th century the town flourished because of the strategic location along major trade routes. A riverbank and mineral rich waters first lured the rangrez community and dhobis to this region and then the printers or chippas in the 18th century firmly established Sanganer as a prominent textile centre. It grew to become the busiest printing art centre in India. The art is over 300 years old.

Ah... more Sustainability and eco-friendliness are the two important aspects of today's fashion industry. Ahimsa silk (Eri Silk) and hand spun cotton yarn conrm these aspects. Comparison of sewability parameters of Ahimsa silk (Eri) and Conventional Silk (Muga, Tussar) union fabrics has been accomplished in this research. Objective of the study was to compare sewability parameters of union fabrics. These fabrics were tested for their seam strength, seam slippage and seam efciency. Union fabrics were prepared from 3 types of silk yarns-Ahimsa silk (Eri), Conventional silk (Muga and Tussar) with hand spun cotton yarn in three different ratios, viz. 33:67, 50:50 and 67:33. The results indicate that union fabrics produced by Ahimsa silk with cotton were compatible to the union fabrics produced by conventional silk with cotton yarns in their sewability parameters, so these should be preferred for construction of various fashion garments and textile products.
