A good-looking office and a good-working office aren't always the same office🔎 We've seen this play out more than once. A team moves into a new office. Great location, glass walls, the kind of space that looks perfect on a careers page🤔 Three months in, the meeting rooms sit half-empty. The corners of the open floor are full, laptops on knees, people on calls near the windows, headphones on almost everywhere. 📉 Nobody asked for that to happen. The space just wasn't built for how the team actually worked. So people quietly built their own version around it. We think this happens more than most teams realise, because workplace conversations usually stop at the visible stuff: colour, furniture, the feature wall. That decides how a space photographs. Not how a team performs. 🌟 Here's a stat that stuck with us: two-thirds of employees modify their own workspace to make up for a poor fit. Moving furniture. Bringing their own gear. Taking calls somewhere else entirely. - Source: Gensler, 2026 Global Workplace Survey That's not a quirk. That's feedback on decisions made long before anyone moved in📢 💡 The decisions we've learned matter most are quieter than paint and furniture: 👉 How sound is separated between focus work and collaboration. Turns out uncontrolled noise bothers people more than bad temperature or lighting ever does. (University of Exeter) 👉 Where daylight reaches, and who gets it. People with window access sleep better and stay sharper through the day. (Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine) 👉 How layouts are built around real collaboration, not just headcount. Face-to-face interaction predicts team performance more than individual skill does. (MIT Human Dynamics Lab) Whether space can flex as a team grows, instead of locking everyone into one static plan. None of this shows up on a walkthrough video. All of it shows up six months into the lease. For us, good design was never about decoration. It's a decision a team lives with every single day🪴

When a business takes its next step, the space around it should be ready to grow with it. We recently welcomed Walter P Moore to DevX Capital One, Ahmedabad, as they inaugurated their new office. 🎉 A global firm of engineers, architects, and designers, Walter P Moore works on some of the most complex projects in the built environment, from large-scale infrastructure to resilience systems that shape how cities function. Their work is rooted in solving real problems, thoughtfully and at scale. It was great to see the team settle in and begin this new chapter in a space built for focused, meaningful work. Most retention strategies start at the wrong end of the problem🤔 For years, workplace experience sat under the umbrella of culture, important in theory, easy to deprioritise in practice. But talent expectations have shifted, hybrid work has raised the bar, and the data now points to something organisations can no longer ignore. The gap isn't in hiring. It's in everything that follows. Onboarding is rushed, workplace quality is assumed, and by the time attrition data surfaces, the decision to leave was already made weeks ago💡 The organisations closing that gap aren't spending more on recruitment. They're rethinking what work feels like once someone joins. 👉 Swipe through to see what's driving the shift, and where most companies are still getting it wrong. #EmployeeExperience #TalentRetention #WorkplaceStrategy #FutureOfWork #PeopleStrategy
