A team consisting of Biologists, Engineers, Scientists & Technologists, what we deliver is a phase-gated project for our customers. Microalgae-based Regenerative Wastewater Valorisation (MRWV) is an emerging technology with several benefits but perhaps with very few parallels. Hence it is important that our customers build confidence in the technology by getting a first-hand validation of the process before they invest their capital in the project. Our phase-gated projects begin at our Kharghar lab with the microalgae bioassay studies on customer wastewater samples to qualitatively test the scientific feasibility of cultivating our green microalgae in the wastewater. Once demonstrated, we then ask our customers to provide us with up to couple thousand litres of their wastewater for conducting a near two-month pilot-plant study at our pilot-plant facility, located near Trambakeshwar, Nashik. At this pilot facility, we conduct trials in small outdoor microalgae ponds that are integrated with multiple downstream processing unit operations. Through them we are able to demonstrate to our customer an end-to-end process that treats wastewater using microalgae, while generating treated water meeting the expected specifications and some microalgae biomass which the customer can evaluate as a feedstock for co-product generation. Basis the data generated at pilot-plant we then develop, design and help execute full-scale wastewater treatment plants using microalgae at the customer manufacturing site. The attached video compilation provides a glimpse of our capabilities in developing and delivering large-scale microalgae-based wastewater treatment projects and also our capability to commercialize the microalgae biomass generated as co-product from those projects. If you are interested in exploring our Microalgae-based Regenerative Wastewater Valorisation (MRWV) technology for your manufacturing site or for your sewage-water treatment needs. ninad@environalgae.com +91-8600140949 https://environalgae.com

About us
The most commonly regulated effluent discharge specifications that necessitate installation of customized unit operations and processes include total suspended solids (TSS), chemical oxygen demand (COD), biological oxygen demand (BOD), nitrogen (N), oil & grease (O&G) and some chosen metals that cause toxicity in the environment. COD and BOD removal can sometimes be challenging, especially with high TDS (total dissolved solids) in effluent. Microbe-assisted activated sludge processes/ trickle-bed filters are usually deployed for COD and BOD removal when dealing with effluents emanating from industrial units that handle organic compounds. However, these microbial processes are sometimes difficult to customize and stabilize. Variation in effluent composition and high TDS frequently lead to destabilization of these processes. In such cases, installing zero liquid discharge (ZLD) unit is the chosen approach for meeting the environmental regulations. The most common ZLD solution is installation of thermal processes that are poor on sustainability because the carbon emissions are substantial, let alone the high CAPEX and OPEX. Algae (microalgae) provide an interesting option for treatment of effluent streams that are rich on BOD, COD, N and most of the metals. What sets phototrophic microalgae apart from heterotrophic microorganisms like bacteria and yeasts is the fact that microalgae perform photosynthesis, while others don’t. Because they do that, microalgae do not need any significant source of food (energy) because they depend upon the sun for the same. Another decisive advantage that microalgae hold over other microorganisms is that while other microorganisms need sustained supply of air (oxygen), microalgae actually produce oxygen as they survive-grow. This oxygen proves effective in removing COD and BOD, despite of TDS values in excess of 30,000 mg/L. Generated algal biomass can provide tremendous value as an aquaculture feed or as an organic fertilizer.

Being featured as Startup of the Month by the International Sustainable Chemistry Collaborative Centre on World Environment Day is truly special and a proud moment for our team. When you work on a novel technology that addresses multiple environmental challenges simultaneously, it brings immense satisfaction and purpose. At Environalgae, we are doing exactly that. Our technology utilizes green microalgae to treat industrial wastewater. During the treatment process, the algae sequester carbon, helping to reduce the environmental footprint of wastewater management while producing two valuable outputs: 1. Treated water suitable for reuse or safe discharge. 2. Highly nutritious algal biomass that can be used as a biostimulant for agricultural crops and as a health supplement ingredient for aquaculture and animal feed. Through this approach, we help reduce carbon emissions associated with conventional effluent treatment processes, release oxygen into the environment, and create a commercially valuable bioproduct from what would otherwise be waste. This recognition reinforces our belief that sustainable technologies can create both environmental and economic value. We remain committed to advancing nature-based solutions for a cleaner and more sustainable future. Thank you, International Sustainable Chemistry Collaborative Centre, for this recognition and encouragement. 🌟 Start-up of the Month: Environalgae! 🌟 Indian start-up Environalgae develops and implements microalgae-based wastewater treatment plants tailored to the specific waste streams of each customer. The process generates nutrient-rich algal biomass, which the company converts into products for agriculture, aquaculture, and animal feed applications. 🦠💧🌱 Powered primarily by sunlight, the treatment process requires relatively low energy input. It is also inherently “clean-tech”: while the microalgae clean the wastewater, they simultaneously produce oxygen. At the same time, pollutants in the water serve as nutrients for the microorganisms, enabling further biomass growth. This approach reduces greenhouse gas emissions associated with conventional wastewater treatment while lowering operational costs and having the potential to significantly decrease the carbon footprint of such facilities. Dear Friends, On this World Environment Day, all of us at Environalgae wish you a happy, thoughtful, and sustainable future. We are delighted to share that the International Sustainable Chemistry Collaborative Centre (ISC3) has featured Environalgae as its STARTUP OF THE MONTH. We are grateful for this recognition and hope it helps us connect with organizations interested in exploring our Microalgae-based Regenerative Wastewater Valorisation (MRWV) technology. Over the years, Team Environalgae has successfully delivered multiple circular-economy wastewater treatment projects using MRWV technology, creating measurable environmental and economic value for our customers. The impact of our work has been validated through Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) studies and the successful commercialization of microalgae-based biostimulants derived from our treatment processes. Today, our customer projects collectively represent an installed wastewater treatment capacity exceeding 3 million litres per day, demonstrating the scalability and practical viability of our approach. As we move forward, we are gearing up to expand our technology across multiple sectors, with the potential to deliver significant benefits in: • Sustainable water management • Greenhouse gas emissions reduction • Local air quality improvement • Regenerative agriculture We look forward to collaborating with industries, partners, investors, and sustainability-focused organizations that share our vision of transforming wastewater from a challenge into a valuable resource.
