For over a century, the food industry has tried to solve a biology problem with chemistry. Saccharin (1879). Aspartame. Sucralose. Stevia extracts. Each generation of synthetic sweetener solved the most immediate problem — sweetness without sucrose — while creating new ones: taste constraints, processing challenges, consumer perception problems, regulatory review cycles. Plants have been producing intensely sweet proteins for millions of years. Thaumatin is reported to be 2,000–3,000× sweeter than sucrose by weight. Brazzein combines sweetness intensity with thermal stability. These proteins interact with the same taste receptors as sugar — and they have existed far longer than the food industry. The reason they have not replaced sugar is not that they do not work. It is because extracting them from plant sources at commercial volume was never economically viable. Precision fermentation is changing that calculation. We're building a biology led solution - it is called Swey. For too long, India’s industries and defence forces have relied heavily on foreign space-tech infrastructure. However, that trajectory is changing as Indian defence forces are trying to become more independent. This can be seen in the recent release of The Indian Army's technology roadmap for UAS and loitering munitions, signalling a deliberate shift towards next-generation warfare. Reinforcing that vision, the Defence Acquisition Council has given administrative approval for procurements worth ₹52,000 Crore to strengthen India’s Airpower, including fixed-wing HAPS. HAPS are solar-powered, ultra-high-endurance UAVs that we believe will become the cornerstone of earth observation and telecommunication infrastructure in the near future. This investment is a clear signal from our defence forces to build a truly sovereign earth observation stack. At Okulo Aerospace, we are already building this infrastructure. The sky is no longer the limit. It may be the next infrastructure frontier.  Between satellites orbiting hundreds of kilometers above Earth and drones operating close to the ground lies a largely untapped region: the stratosphere, roughly 20 km above us. This is where High Altitude Pseudo Satellites (HAPS is creating a new category of aerospace capability. UAVs operating high above the weather and powered by solar-electric propulsion, these advanced platforms can stay airborne for months at a time. Why the stratosphere? It is an ideal, empty operational environment. With no commercial air traffic, birds and weather systems, these platforms experience minimal drag and intense, direct sunlight. Recently recognised by the World Economic Forum as one of the top 10 emerging technologies, HAPS bridges the critical gap between Earth and Space.  When borders face rapid escalations or catastrophic floods strike, traditional infrastructure fails us. Terrestrial networks go dark, and standard satellites are often miles away in orbit, missing the critical window to act. HAPS changes that. Operating high above the weather, these platforms can loiter indefinitely around a specific area of interest. Unlike satellites that take hours or days to return to a coordinate, HAPS maintains a stationary position to deliver a continuous, live stream of data when it matters most. It is the ultimate "unblinking eye" in the sky, delivering capabilities that were previously impossible or technologically unfeasible: Persistent Monitoring: Provides continuous, high resolution, real-time data for border management, disaster management and environmental monitoring and research. Telecommunications: Delivers low-latency, Direct-to-Device (D2D) connectivity to remote regions without needing expensive ground infrastructure. This paradigm shift is exactly what makes HAPS one of the most exciting frontiers in aerospace today.
