Such a process is monitored by taking samples in fixed intervals of time and corrective action is taken whenever the output is found deviating from the specifications. It is required to have an objective criteria for deciding the sampling intervals and the quantum of adjustments to meet the target output. Also if there is a large time lag associated with the change of levels for the output, it is desiarable to get the action in a small interval of time. The methodology is explained through a case study. In the case study the methodology is developed using the mass balancing of the process and the statistical tools like ANOVA, β-correction, regression etc.
