Role of Workaholism and Self-Concept in Predicting Impostor Feelings Among Employees

These recurrent feelings of being incompetent and not worthy of achievement were termed as impostor feelings by Clance and Imes (1978). The present paper aimed to explore the predictive role of workaholism and selfconcept in impostor feelings among employees. A sample of 317 employees (doctors, university teachers, lawyers, bankers, & nurses) from various organizations was approached through convenient sampling method for this research. Validated Urdu translated versions of Clance Impostor Phenomenon Scale (Clance, 1985), Dutch Workaholism Scale (Schaufeli, Shimazu, & Taris, 2009), and Six Factor Self-concept Scale (Stake, 1994) were administered along with a demographic sheet. Translation and Validation of Dutch Workaholism Scale

The aim of the current study was to translate Dutch Workaholism Scale (DUWAS; Schaufeli, Shimazu,... more The aim of the current study was to translate Dutch Workaholism Scale (DUWAS; Schaufeli, Shimazu, and Taris, 2009) in to Urdu language and to establish construct validity of the scale in Pakistani culture. For this purpose study was completed in two phases. In the first phase of the study DUWAS was translated in to Urdu through back translation method following the steps suggested by Sousa and Rojjanasrirat (2011). For the purpose of establishing construct validity of DUWAS, in the second phase of the study data was collected from 317 working men (n = 194) and women (n = 123) of different occupations including doctors, university teachers, lawyers, bankers, and nurses. Data was collected through convenient sampling from KPK (Peshawar, Mardan), Rawalpindi, and Islamabad. Semi structured interviews were conducted with parent- children dyad. Total of eight interviews were conducted with four children and one of their parents. Participants were approached through purposive convenient sampling. After conducting interviews data was analyzed manually. Findings of the study revealed that participants have positive as well as negative perceptions regarding screen time. Further consequences of restricting screen time were also revealed. It was recommended that children should be given maximum 2 hours for screen. Findings also revealed some interesting themes regarding recommendations to restrict screen time.
