By restricting themselves to a particular approach, Oatley and his colleagues do not explore or challenge the framework adopted by New Labour, which is the most disappointing aspect of the book. Its richness in terms of detail and analysis provides a strong account of economic frameworks, which have shaped urban policy. But it is weakened by the absence of political analysis.
