Its function has long been debated, with no consensus among scholars. This paper proposes a new interpretation: the disk was intentionally carved from fragile schist as a prestige object designed to demonstrate the artisan's exceptional skill, attract elite patronage, and secure high-status workshop positions. This hypothesis aligns with known patterns of early dynastic craftsmanship, social mobility, and the symbolic role of prestige objects in tomb assemblages.
