The application of the methods of Computer Aided Engineering in sheet metal forming is looking ba... more The application of the methods of Computer Aided Engineering in sheet metal forming is looking back for several decades. It covers a wide range of activities from the product design through the process planning and process control including sophisticated methods of modelling and simulation. Among the CAE activities, recently the development of Knowledge Based Systems has become an emerging field. Most of the available Knowledge Based Systems are based on simplified plasticity theory and empirical technological rules. Therefore, they are usually not able to give accurate solutions and reliable predictions for complicated forming processes. In the last two decades, significant progress has been also achieved in the numerical modelling of forming processes. In spite of the enormous development of hardware and software facilities, the exclusive use of numerical modelling still seems to be very time-and cost consuming. Therefore the integration of these two fields has great practical importance. In this paper, the challenges and opportunities of the integration of Knowledge Based Systems and Finite Element Modelling in the process planning of multi-step sheet forming processes will be given.

The aluminium alloy studied in this paper is the heat treatable AA7075 which has zinc as the main... more The aluminium alloy studied in this paper is the heat treatable AA7075 which has zinc as the main alloying element. 7xxx aluminium alloys have the best strength performance among all commercial series and AA7075 has tensile strength above 500 MPa. The outstanding strength properties open the possibility to use this alloy in automotive industry as a possible alternative material for car body elements instead of steel. However, their limited formability properties mean obstacle when a complicated shape car body panel is formed, since the elongation is limited only between 5 and 11%. In order to successfully form these sheets into the demanded geometry, hot forming should be used, and thus the body panels should be formed when the AA7075 is in a solution heat treated condition, such as using the HFQ® process. A cikk a LoCoMaTech H-2020 projekt keretében végzett alakítástechnológiai kutatásokról és az elér... more A cikk a LoCoMaTech H-2020 projekt keretében végzett alakítástechnológiai kutatásokról és az elért eredményekről ad számot. A projekt a Horizon 2020 Európai Uniós program keretében nyert el pályázati támogatást a 2016.09.01-2019.08.31. közötti, 36 hónapos kutatási időszakra. A projekt szakmai feladatait 9 ország 19 intézményéből álló konzorcium valósította meg a Londoni Imperial College vezetésével. A projekt fő célja elsősorban nagyszilárdságú (pl. AA6082 és AA7075 anyagminőségű) aluminium ötvözetek alkalmazásával, jelentős tömegcsökkentéssel, költséghatékony gyártási eljárások kidolgozása, a környezeti káros hatások minél nagyobb mértékű csökkentésével. A projektben a Miskolci Egyetem Anyagszerkezettani és Anyagtechnológiai Intézetének Mechanikai Technológiai Intézeti Tanszéke volt a magyar partner, amelynek fő feladatát az alakítástechnológiai kérdések vizsgálata, alakíthatósági kísérletek végzése, valamint ezek numerikus modellezése képezte.
