Identifying any malleable mechanism may open a new pathway through which such symptoms could be targeted. We explored the association between neuroticism, rumination, anxiety, and depressive symptoms and tested a moderated mediation model with anxiety as a mediator in the relationship between neuroticism and depressive symptoms, and rumination as a moderator of the effect of neuroticism on anxiety. Method: This cross-sectional study was conducted on Indian women living in the state of Punjab. A total of 671 adult females responded to the translated versions of standardized questionnaires measuring the relevant constructs. Results: The mean (SD) age of the sample was 23.71 (6.09) years. As hypothesized, anxiety significantly mediated the relationship between neuroticism and depression, and the use of rumination...

Emotion Regulation Difficulties and Health-Risk Behaviours in Adolescents
Behaviour Change

Among associated factors, emotion regulation difficulties may impact youths’ engagement in HRBs. Researchers explored the relation of emotion regulation with HRBs; however, specific emotion regulation difficulties for less severe and more prevalent HRBs, such as self-harming behaviour, risky-driving, violence, unhealthy dietary behaviour, and poor adherence to prescribed medication, has not been much explored. The current study aimed to explore the predictability of adolescents’ specific difficulties in emotion regulation in relation to their engagement in HRBs. For this purpose, six different HRBs, that is, self-harm, violence, risky-driving, unhealthy dietary behaviour, inadequate physical activity, and lack of medication adherence, were studied. A total of 617 (Males = 356) adolescents (Mage = 15.77) from fi...

Exploration of a Psychological Defensive Syndrome Against Depressive Symptomatology in a Community Sample of Indian Women
Psychological Reports
The prevalence of depressive symptomatology in Indian women and the associated treatment gap are ... more The prevalence of depressive symptomatology in Indian women and the associated treatment gap are alarming and require interventions at a community level. Such interventions may succeed if the specific risk and protective factors are appropriately identified and addressed. Identifying such factors may suggest a Psychological Defensive Syndrome (PDS) against depressive symptomatology, and inculcating this PDS through specific interventions may help individuals manage depressive symptomatology. For evaluating the feasibility of such an idea, a two-phase research project was initiated, and the current paper presents findings of its first phase. The primary aim of the first phase was to explore the predictive relationship between depressive symptomatology and rumination, reappraisal, resilience, self-efficacy, neuroticism, and extraversion. A total of 671 women (Mage = 23.71) responded to standardized questionnaires in a semi-structured interview setting. The obtained data were subjected...

It facilitates interoperability, integration and federation of information exchange related to spatial infrastructure among geo-distributed deployed IoT entities, different stakeholders, and process domains. This system, in the presented use case, solves the problem of adhoc booking of meetings in real time through semantic discovery of spatial data and metadata related to room occupancy and thus enables optimum utilization of spatial infrastructure in university campuses. Therefore, the proposed system has the capability to save on effort, cost and productivity in institutional spatial management contexts in the longer run and as well provide a new enriched user experience in smart public buildings. Additionally, the system empowers different stakeholders to plan, forecast and fulfill their spatial infrastructure requirements through semantic data search analysis and real time data driven planning. The initial performance results of the system have shown quick response enabled semantic discovery of data and metadata (<2 seconds mostly). The proposed system would be a steppingstone towards smart management of spatial infrastructure which offers scalability, federation, vendor agnostic ecosystem, seamless interoperability and integration and security by design. The proposed system provides the fundamental work for its extension and potential in relevant spatial domains of the future.

Like any other behaviour, HRBs may be an outcome of a complex interplay between personal and situational factors that determines our responses. Among other factors, emotional tendencies, specific behavioural patterns, and psychosocial environment may be the significant factors working at different hierarchical positions within a system and guiding human behaviours, including HRBs. Previous studies have explored the role of these specific factors in developing and maintaining HRBs, but mainly among the adult population, and no conclusive results could be observed regarding their contribution to HRBs in adolescents. The present study explored the predictability of adolescents' engagement in HRBs with regard to three representations of the mentioned factors, i.e., emotion regulation difficulties, perceived parenting practices and personality traits. A total of 723 (Males = 440) adolescents (M age = 16.05, SD = 1.1) provided relevant information on the standardized questionnaires. Structural equation modelling was applied to test the stated hypotheses. Analysis revealed that the adolescents who reported more difficulty regulating one's emotions, perceived parenting practice as maladaptive, scored high on neuroticism and low on conscientiousness, showed more engagement in HRBs than their counterparts. Further, the findings indicated that emotion regulation difficulties and perceived parenting practices are stronger predictors of HRBs than personality traits. Interventional programs targeting HRBs among adolescents should address specific facets of emotional dysregulation and sensitise parents about their role in moderating adolescents' HRBs.

Social scientists need to integrate previous findings and devise intervention plans for the dysfunctional aggression so that deterioration of society can be prevented. The present study was carried out with a purpose of reducing aggressive tendencies by applying social cognitive intervention (SCI). A total of 313 participants with the mean age of 13.60 years (SD = 1.03 years) were administered Aggression Questionnaire. Out of 313 participants, 126 participants scoring high on aggression were screened in and randomly assigned to experimental and control groups. The Experimental group was given a six-session SCI designed specifically to reduce aggression and hostile attribution of intent (HAI). The intervention mainly focused on modifying cognitions and information processing style of aggressive adolescents used by them in ambiguous social situations involving negative outcome. Significant reduction in aggression level and HAI was observed among participants in experimental group as compared with control group. For adolescents at risk, SCI may hold a promise to change information processing patterns and subsequent aggressive tendencies.

This study comprehensively investigated the influence of in vitro immersion durations of 7 and 30 days on structural and physico-chemical properties of AgHAP NPs. XRD revealed that different immersion durations formed different secondary phases. Rietveld refinement suggested that with the increase in duration of immersion, inter-atomic distance between atoms and crystallinity of NPs decreased, whereas distortion of lattice parameters, crystal size, and micro-strain of NPs increased. FTIR supported XRD phase analysis and confirmed the formation of apatite in all NPs. NPs that were agglomerated consisted of particles of irregular shapes and sizes as revealed by SEM. EDX corroborated with XRD phase analysis and detected all desirable elements constituting HAP phase. Disparity between hydrodynamic diameter (DLS testing) and crystal sizes determined using Scherrer formula and Rietveld refinement was observed. In vitro pH measurement of SBF suggested the bioactive nature of NPs and also revealed the higher rate of solubility of AgHAP NPs. AgHAP NPs gained weight after 30 days of immersion in SBF.

This study comprehensively evaluated the in vitro performance of T-HAP NPs immersed in SBF for different durations for 7 and 30 days. Duration of immersion had little effect on phase constitution of phase pure and T-HAP NPs as suggested by XRD analysis. Rietveld refinement suggested that with the increase in duration of immersion, inter-atomic distance between atoms of HAP phase and crystallinity of NPs decreased, whereas lattice parameters, cell volume, crystal size, and microstrain in T-HAP NPs increased. FTIR supported XRD phase analysis and suggested bone-like apatitic formation in all NPs. SEM indicated the agglomeration of NPs composed of particles of irregular shapes and sizes. EDX results corroborated with XRD and FTIR results. Hydrodynamic diameter measured using DLS were compared to be significantly bigger than crystal sizes (Rietveld and Scherrer) calculated using XRD data. During in vitro study, pH measurement of SBF suggested the bioactive nature of all NPs and also revealed the higher rate of solubility of T-HAP NPs. All T-HAP NPs gained weight after respective days of immersion in SBF. Hence, this study systematically and minutely evaluated the in vitro performance of T-HAP NPs immersed for different durations in SBF.
