I have dealt with Said's idea of orientalism to show the depiction of the Orientals in the western academy of knowledge. The novel celebrates multi-culturalism and challenges the east-west polarities. Euro-centric notion of history has been displaced by looking at history from down below. I have also discussed the idea of modernity in this paper. In An Antique Land as a post-colonial narrative deconstructs the traditional colonial discourse. My paper aims to explore these above mentioned issues to establish my objective.
