📣 New Research Alert: advancing forensic science with HERA SWIR Can hyperspectral imaging help distinguish bodily fluids from visually similar substances directly on complex substrates? A new study explored the combined use of two complementary HSI cameras and chemometric analysis to detect, visualise, and classify blood, semen, oral fluid, sweat, non-bodily stains, and blood-semen mixtures across nine different substrates. Our #HERA SWIR hyperspectral camera played a key role by providing the chemical fingerprint available in the shortwave-infrared range. While VIS-NIR imaging supported stain visualisation, the #SWIR data delivered the additional spectral information required to confirm stain composition and discriminate complex mixtures. The study highlights the potential of hyperspectral imaging combined with chemometrics as a rapid, non-contact, and non-destructive tool for forensic investigations. Congratulations to Cristina Cano Trujillo and all the authors on this research! 👉 Read the full paper: https://lnkd.in/ezhf92pN #Hyperspectral #Imaging #ForensicScience

HORIBA's FiPho high-performance Time-Correlated Single Photon Counting (TCSPC) platform is now fully integrated into our plug-and-play acquisition software for GEMINI and GEMINI-X. Our CTO Antonio Perri worked closely with Patrizio Barbini, Product Specialist at HORIBA Italy, to integrate the systems. Here's a quick look of the two possible configurations: 🔹Macroscopic Setup: GEMINI interferometer can be seamlessly coupled with the FiPho by Horiba and a PPD850 detector. This combination creates a powerful, highly efficient TCSPC setup. Thanks to our latest software update, acquiring comprehensive TRES data from this specific hardware configuration is now a completely plug-and-play experience. 🔹Microscopy Setup: thanks to the exceptional versatility of our technology, the exact same TCSPC setup has been adapted for microscopy. This localized configuration provides an invaluable, high-precision tool tailored specifically for research in material and life science. We are proud to continue developing solutions that simplify complex spectroscopic measurements without compromising on accuracy or performance. Reach out to our team or visit our website to learn more about our #GEMINI interferometer and our updated software ecosystem featuring the #HORIBA system. #Spectroscopy #Photonics #TCSPC

📣 New Article Alert! How can we uncover the hidden history of medieval manuscripts without touching them? 🧐 A recent paper by Margherita Giugni, Francesco Di Concilio, and Teresa Cacace explores how optical imaging can support the non-invasive study of illuminated manuscripts, from digital enhancement to multispectral and hyperspectral analysis. In the case study on the “Obituario di Santo Spirito” from the Biblioteca Capitolare di Benevento, our #HERA VNIR hyperspectral camera was used to acquire VIS-NIR data directly in situ, helping map pigments, inks, parchment features, and erased text. 👉 Read the full paper: https://lnkd.in/dQ3SFR4R #CulturalHeritage #Photonics #HyperspectralImaging

📣 New Research Alert! How can we monitor electrochemical reactions on hundreds of individual nanoparticles simultaneously, while preserving detailed spectral information? A recent study published in ACS Publications introduces Fourier Transform Wide-Field Electrochemical Hyperspectral Imaging (FT-WEHI), a high-throughput approach for in situ monitoring of dynamic electrochemical processes at the single-nanoparticle level. In this work, our #GEMINI interferometer was used to enable wide-field Fourier transform hyperspectral imaging, allowing the researchers to track the electrodeposition of Pt on hundreds of single Au nanospheres and nanorods simultaneously. This approach provides an optical analog of voltammetry for many nanoparticles at once, generating statistically meaningful datasets that are difficult to obtain with conventional single-particle measurements. Today at #ICON26, we’d like to highlight the HERA hyperspectral camera from NIREOS—a powerful solution for advanced analysis in cultural heritage and art conservation. HERA is a Fourier-Transform hyperspectral camera available in four different models, covering a total spectral range from 400 to 2200 nm, enabling analysis from the visible range all the way into the SWIR—a key advantage when investigating deeper material properties and hidden features. We are proud to see our HERA VNIR hyperspectral camera powering this breakthrough research by the Faculty of Engineering and Science University of Greenwich. Congratulations to the entire research team on this outstanding work! 👏

We have made a breakthrough in 3D hyperspectral bone imaging, moving from spectral pictures to self-calibrated 3D spectral reconstruction. Bone is not only a structure. It is a wavelength-dependent material system. To understand it properly, geometry and spectral response must be reconstructed together. In our new study, we introduce BoNeRF-HS, a self-calibrated hyperspectral Neural Radiance Field for 3D reconstruction of bone. The key advance is simple but powerful: the model learns the 3D scene, the hyperspectral radiance field and the camera parameters jointly, without requiring externally estimated COLMAP poses. We demonstrate this across mouse bone, trabecular and cortical bone analogues, where BoNeRF-HS outperforms existing self-calibrated NeRF methods by delivering higher reconstruction quality, stronger spectral fidelity and superior preservation of fine bone surface details. Technically, we introduce a gated spectral adapter that allows the model to reason across neighbouring wavelength bands, preserving the spectral structure of the material rather than treating hyperspectral channels as disconnected images. This opens a new route for non-contact, label-free, 3D spectral visualisation of bone, with potential applications in image-guided orthopaedics, biomechanics, forensic science and advanced tissue assessment. Great work in collaboration with Neetu Sigger, Tuan T. Nguyen and Sadaf Ashraf. Special thanks to NIREOS for providing the HERA VNIR hyperspectral camera used for data collection. N. Sigger, T.T.
