With the founding support of the May and Samuel Rudin Family Foundation, Inc., and the Pinkerton Foundation, the Center’s Graduate Research Fellowships allow graduate student researchers from the City University of New York to be trained in applied research methods and participate as members of the team for the Evidence Generation initiative and many of JohnJayREC’s research projects.
Rudin Fellows participate in nearly all projects, particularly those involving work with government agencies, nonprofits, and community organizations. Staff members and faculty affiliates work with students on projects to improve the operations and effectiveness of public safety agencies by generating and analyzing data about the effects of policies, programs, and crime reduction strategies. Fellows work with Center staff to generate evaluation findings and create accessible, understandable reports.
Graduate Research Fellows often specialize in fields such as social and behavioral science, social services and social welfare, public health, statistics, legal studies, or other fields related to the work of the Research and Evaluation Center. To be eligible for a fellowship, applicants are typically enrolled in a Masters or Doctoral program at the City University of New York (CUNY) or a nearby college.
Funding from the Rudin and Pinkerton Foundations ended, but the Center continues to pursue the original mission and to seek additional resources.
