ISOCARP and the Glasgow City Council are co-hosting this global event to celebrate gender-sensitive planning work and recognise organisations, companies, and individuals who are committed to inclusive planning! Let's get inspired by international thought-provoking sessions and learn together from Glasgow's unique gender-responsive urban planning approach!
 

Programme will include:

  • Keynote speakers and thematic sessions
  • The first standalone ISOCARP Women in Planning Awards Ceremony
  • Walking tours in Glasgow exploring "urban regeneration and the feminist city"
  • A networking Reception for all participants

ISOCARP Women in Planning Awards (WIPA), Glasgow 2026

ISOCARP Women in Planning is entering an exciting new chapter! This November, the Women in Planning Awards will be held for the first time as a standalone event, reinforcing ISOCARP's commitment to gender equity and to increasing the visibility of women shaping our cities and regions.

Award Pillars

1. Inspiring Individuals
This pillar recognises women planners who have made exceptional contributions to the profession at different stages of their careers. Eligible candidates include women engaged across the full range of planning activities.

2. Inclusive and Equitable Organisational Culture
This pillar recognises organisations, public service entities and private practices that have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to enabling women to thrive in the planning profession.

3. Gender-Responsive Planning Practice, Policy & Research
This pillar recognises outstanding gender-inclusive, or gender-informed planning work delivered in the twenty-four months preceding the nomination deadline.

ISOCARP Women in Planning Awards

To ensure fair, diverse, and internationally representative evaluation process, ISOCARP invites applications for the jury panel of the WIPA.  

We encourage applications from both ISOCARP members and non-members who: 

  • Have significant experience in urban, regional, or spatial planning, and related disciplines.
  • Have significant experience in Organisational Development and HR policy, preferably within the urban planning field (not mandatory but desirable)
  • Bring expertise from practice, academia, government, civil society, or international organisations
  • Demonstrate a commitment to ethical, inclusive, and equitable planning
  • Can contribute independent, thoughtful, and objective evaluations
  • Represent diverse geographic regions and professional perspectives

*Please note that jury members cannot apply or be nominated for an award.

Responsibilities of the Jury Members

Selected jury members will:  

  • Review assigned award submissions according to the evaluation criteria  
  • Complete evaluation forms 
  • Maintain confidentiality throughout the review process. 
  • Declare any conflicts of interest before evaluating submissions
  • Participate in 2 or more online meetings 
  • Contribute to a transparent, rigorous, and respectful selection process

Expected Time Commitment:
Jury members should be available for an evaluation period of about 20 days in September 2026.
