Alaska Flood Inundation Tool

This application is a community-level planning tool that displays potential flood extents and depths at a range of water heights referenced to selected vertical datums in 1-foot and 0.25-meter increments. Use the slider on the left to scroll the modeled water height up and down. Where available, flood impact categories and building elevation data are included. Depths are accurate to ± 1.0 foot and ± 0.25 meters over land, but may not be accurate over permanent waterbodies.

The data in this tool are derived from digital elevation models, orthorectified aerial imagery, and first-floor elevation surveys. Flood extents and depths, including hydrological connectivity, have been modeled using publicly available data and may not precisely represent actualities on the ground during a flooding event. As with all remotely sensed data, all features and modeled results should be verified with a site visit.
