Throwback Thursday. Today we are spotlighting the Offshore Patrol Vessels PNS YAMAMA and PNS HUNAIN. In close collaboration with Damen and Nevesbu, Alewijnse completed the full electrical system integration for these advanced naval vessels.   Built at Damen Shipyards Galati, this project stood out for its strong partnership and the successful integration of the specific requirements of the Pakistan Navy. Alewijnse and the University of Twente are joining forces to advance the application of Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) technology in the maritime sector. By combining academic expertise in power electronics and energy systems with Alewijnse’s practical experience in maritime engineering and system integration, the collaboration aims to accelerate the development and validation of innovative solutions for vessel electrification. The collaboration was initiated through the master’s thesis of Petar Vuckovic, a student at the University of Twente, who is conducting his research at Alewijnse. Petar is contributing to the development of an innovative Typhoon HIL solution for electrical systems, enabling Energy Management System (EMS) algorithms to be validated in real time, faster, safer, and more efficiently. “Alewijnse is pioneering the application of Hardware-in-the-Loop technology in the maritime sector,” says Zoran Malbasic, Senior R&D Systems Engineer at Alewijnse. Zoran has a strong passion for innovation and a natural talent for mentoring young professionals. The R&D team, in which he works under the leadership of Mischa Habermehl, includes graduates from Delft University of Technology and has recently been expanded with students from the Power Electronics group of the University of Twente, led by Prof. Dr. Thiago Batista Soeiro. Powering the next chapter of Oceanco’s rebuilt Draak! Alewijnse is proud to announce the completion of the successful delivery of its electrical scope for the Draak, Oceanco’s extensively rebuilt 92.9m / 305ft yacht. Originally delivered by Oceanco in 2014, Draak has been extensively rebuilt at Oceanco’s Life Cycle Support facilities in Zwijndrecht. The result is a highly capable companion yacht to Leviathan, purpose-designed to support scientific research, marine exploration, and extended operational missions. Draak demonstrates what can be achieved when an existing yacht is transformed for a completely new operational purpose. Through close cooperation with Oceanco and the other project partners, we have delivered advanced electrical solutions that support the yacht’s new role in research, exploration and long-range operations, says Diederick van Welij, Project Manager at Alewijnse. Proud to contribute to the launch of Truong Minh Dream 06! Alewijnse Vietnam is proud to have contributed its marine electrical expertise to the successful launch of Truong Minh Dream 06, a new-generation 45,000 DWT bulk carrier, at Ha Long Shipyard. Built in accordance with Lloyd’s Register standards, the vessel measures 185 metres in length and 31 metres in beam and is destined for operation on international shipping routes. For us, this launch is not only an important project milestone but also a testament to what can be achieved through close collaboration, technical expertise, and dedication from all partners involved. We are honoured to work alongside Trường Minh, Ha Long Shipyard, and the wider project team in bringing this vessel to life. The launch also marks a significant moment for Ha Long Shipyard, highlighting its resilience and recovery following the challenges caused by Typhoon Yagi.
