Today, on the UN #InternationalDayofFriendship, we're looking back at a special event that celebrated an important milestone with our partner, SolarBuddy. Brunellers joined SolarBuddy for a special Dinner in the Dark in Sydney, lit entirely by SolarBuddy devices, to mark their 10-year anniversary. Over the past decade, SolarBuddy has helped transform the lives of more than 1.7 million people living in energy poverty through solar light devices and STEM-focused school workshops across sub-Saharan Africa, Southeast Asia, the Pacific Islands and remote Australia. To celebrate, the Brunel Foundation made a AU$1,000 donation, funding 14 JuniorBuddy devices - enough to power 102,200 extra study hours, reduce around 18 tonnes of CO₂, and improve 70 lives. Neil Chandaria, one of three Brunellers at the celebration, said: "Hearing the stories of children whose lives have been transformed by something many of us take for granted, light, was a powerful reminder of how much impact a simple solution can have." Congratulations, SolarBuddy 🎉 Here's to the next decade!
