This morning Professor Carole Mundell , ESA’s Director of science, gave at #SPIEastro a great plenary talk about #ESA’s science program and also explained #NewAthena, the next generation L-class x-ray observatory being prepared for adoption in June 2027. NewAthena will get its light from the largest x-ray lens ever built, enabled by Silicon Pore Optics, which #cosine and its partners #Micronit, #Teledynee2v, #CHEXS, #DTU, #ZEISS, #PTB, #CELLS, #INAF, #Medialario and #SRON have developed for and with ESA. We are very honored that Prof Mundell then also took the time to visit our booth, talking to and inspiring my fantastic colleagues, who actually make these optics become reality. Ad astra!
